I went to a Care Now clinic on Tuesday. Doctor thinks I strained my shoulder somehow. She poked it a bit and said the muscles were very tense. I've been on muscle relaxers, pain meds, and whatever prednisone is to bring down the swelling. I didn't give the muscle relaxers a fair chance last weekend, so I started taking them as much as the bottle ( Read more... )

I screw up my shoulders all the time just by sleeping on it wrong. A nudge from my Chiropractor or massage therapist usually helps it more than any pill.

I was wondering why mysterious anonymous stranger was telling me about their aches and pains. :D

A back massager! Maybe that would help! Thanks for the idea.

Prednisone is a steroid, but it treats inflammatory diseases. I'm presuming they think that if it isn't just a strain, that you may have something causing your muscles to swell, and the steroid should help bring that down and reduce some of your swelling. The muscle relaxant will help prevent your muscles from tensing up so they can heal, while the inflammation reduction allows more movement ( ... )

Corticosteroid! That's the word I was trying to recall. NSAIDs don't usually work for me very much, just upset my stomach. I have some sort of allergy to aspirin. So they often give me the corticosteroids instead.

I believe the problem is age and my computer workstation. I'm not as young as I used to be, and my computer setup isn't the least bit ergonomic. I'm going to have to change my computer setup and fast; I can feel my shoulder tensing up again as I go back to my old habits. Sigh. I LIKE my current setup, but it obviously isn't working for me anymore.

I'm so glad you were able to get some relief.I find now that I'm in my 40's,that I have aches and pains and problems I NEVER had earlier in life---even 4-5 years ago.I have had to adjust how I am on the computer and take breaks, switch positions, get a mouse and mousepad (I have a laptop with touchpad) and adjust my chair and use one of those angle thingies that tilts the computer screen and keyboard. Now I have almost no pain like I used to--computer related, anyway.I still have an aching shoulder if I sleep wrong.I hope your symptoms go away soon and you can find a way for it not to occur again. *HUGS*

Yeah, I'm just going to have to rearrange my computer setup. This simply isn't working for me anymore; I can feel my shoulder tensing up again as I try to go back to my old habits. :( I'm not happy about it, as I like this computer setup, but I like no pain a lot more.
