Harry Potter 6

Dad & I went to see Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince last night. He wanted to go more than me but I let him drag me along. I was reticent simply because I had such apprehensions from the last one. That last film (and the last novel), I’m sorry to say, kicked the excitement for the series out of me. I really enjoyed the books but the rushed ( Read more... )

That's awesome news!

I heard Tom Felton did an awesome job as Draco. I always loved Draco in the earlier books because he was just such a ridiculous brat.

Indeed he did! I was just blown away; he cries in the bathroom before he fights Harry and it's just...amazing. Plus he stole every scene from Daniel Radcliff, which pleased me greatly! :D

...Awesome is an awesome word! :3

I also was wondering if I had read the novel again more recently if I would've felt differently about the movie because I enjoyed this one too and the one before it not so much.

I also totally agree about Ginny being a non-character. And for some reason I LOVE Luna in the movies, but never really cared for her in the books. I loved her party dress sooo much!

Draco has always been one of my favorite characters in the movies.

I can't remember the movie, but there is a scene in the Slytherin common room where he picks up a small gift, asks Crabbe and Goyle if it is theirs, and then proceeds to pocket it. OR when he is in the bookstore and just rips a page out of a book and takes it.

Even though I left that movie feeling underwhelmed, I thought he did a great job.

Luna always makes me laugh.

Ugh, I did not like Ginny. Usually I don't like actors changing mid-series, but they seriously need to find someone new to play her.

Ginny is supposed to be sassy, pretty, and eye-catching! At least that's how I interpreted her character in the books. In this movie she was boring, butter-faced wallpaper glue.

No, no, no.

Yeah, I agree with you. I know that Bonnie Wright has it in her to be prettier but they seem to be downplaying her role and her beauty entirely. She also seriously needs an acting coach and some stronger dialogue..something that indicates to the movie audience she's worthy of being the female love interest. I mean, even as stupid as the relationship between Wesley & Buttercup is (yes, I went there), Buttercup at least has some nice speeches and displays some sort of personality, even in the novel. Ginny has nothing but long red hair and considering how often Harry's Mom is mentioned in the story and this new movie particularly, it just makes me think he likes her purely because he reminds him of Mom. Ewwwww~~~~

Yeah, a recast or a major rewrite is the only thing that can save her! It would also help if she wasn't so stiff. ARG! >.
