*dons party hat and grins*

Hmm, yeah. I think there are a lot of factors in Sam being where he is, and I don't actually understand it yet. (I only pretend to.) But Sam always confuses me, that's why I talk about him so much. (with Dean all I have to say is I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU and that's not very interesting to read.)

I think my seeing 8.1 two seconds after first seeing 7.23 was also a factor in my loving it so much. Because it was like WHAM! Another year went by?! And that just stabbed me through the heart right there (even though the show is now set in 2014 if my math is correct...) but I was ALREADY in that my-heart-is-stabbed mindset, and I just stayed there.

It's not just you. It's mostly a pattern I've observed.

I was looking at this and thinking about a reply, and I suddenly had ThOUGHTS. I put them up in the middle of the post because they're long and I have OCDishness and they're not actually all that connected to what you said. But if you want, there up there, and otherwise, THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THOUGHTS!

"Alternately, maybe he would've looked for Dean if the dog hadn't derailed his life in that other direction."

Good point, one I hadn't thought of. I am busy trying to justify Sam's lack of looking for Dean in any way I can, so your thoughts were helpful to me!

So maybe some entity put the dog out there for Sam to get derailed so Dean would stay in Purgatory. See, that's a "supernatural" story line, but I keep hearing Bob Singer saying: "Sam has a very human story line this year." :( I'll just go to my corner and sulk now.

I LOVE the idea that it is now actually 2014! Even last season I saw how Cas had become more like the Cas of 2014, and now Dean has hardened with war, and Sam is hopeless (even Bobby is dead).

Interesting!
