Farmer's Market report

Jul 16, 2011 11:35

I've decided to try and get in the habit of shopping the Farmer's Market on Saturday. The big one around the square always has the largest selection and it's a good excuse to get out of the house before I become entrenched for the weekend. It's a little over a mile walk to make it all the way around and back to the car, so I always feel semi- ( Read more... )

Oooh, well, good meat and cheese is fun, too! That's what I like about our market, it's got a great mix of everything. I've got some great cheeses from ours, I just have too much at home right now to be adding more without it going bad.

Aww, my feet appreciate the soothy thoughts, thank you.

Oh, lovely! It's always interesting to see what markets in other parts of the country have. We're awash in corn and peaches now, but the cherries are done :(

Oh, yeah, we've got the corn right now, too. I'm just not a good chooser of corn, so I leave it up to other people. I'd kill for peaches, though! That's not one of the things that I think we get this far north. And not this early in the year, if so. I really like the white peaches that are available sometimes, something I don't remember having as a kid. Hmm, may have to look for those in the grocery store!

Those zucchini look SO GOOD (I love zucchini, can you tell?) so do the cherries. Yum!

We don't have any markets near us, but we do have a local fruit & veggie shop that has far better produce than the supermarkets, and they support the state's farmers. I love buying stuff from them. It's always so tasty. We only use supermarket fruit/veg if we're desperate these days :S

I hope your feet are feeling better now ♥

I know what you mean about the grocery store fruit/veg! I'm becoming a convert about shopping the farmer's market, at least in spring and summer. Winter, I just have to make do.

The feet feel fine, now, except for the toe. D: But I have a terrifying pirate band-aid on it now to protect it from further injury.

Wah, I wish you and I had both know the other was downtown, you could have visited me in my tent of many sorrows, and possibly gotten some movies out of it. ;)

I am very blister-prone too, so I sympathize.

I seriously considered stopping by your store, but the toe was screaming at me by the time I hit the corner of State and Mifflin after doing a once-around of the square. I should have stopped at your place first, if I had only known. D:
