it giveth and it taketh away. Well, actually nothing's been taken away, but it tried! I didn't get hacked again, but there seems to have been a decimal error in a transaction between my student loan company and the credit union I do business with. I hardly use my cellphone except when I'm traveling, so I got a Tracfone a couple of years ago. I paid for the double minutes for a year, and when my year ran out I had something like 800 minutes left...and found out that for a small fee you can extend your rollover time for another year and not lose the minutes. I may have spent about $200, maybe $250, for cellphone service over the last 3 years.

Good luck pinching those pennies till they scream. :)

I've been considering a Tracphone; it's what my dad and brother have. I really only need it for traveling, too. I'm either at home or work, where I've got landlines, so the cell phone is just a fancy paperweight. And not that pretty a one, either.

I used a Virgin Wireless phone for a couple of years, which was excellent for my needs since I'm not a phone person. (Now I use it for work, and for internets, so a different story.)

Thank god for the Navy. I shudder to think the situation my father would be in (and by extension, me) without the funds and healthcare he gets from them. Not a lot, but enough to keep above water.
