I would like ot quote my favorite parts but then I'd have to quote everything. I love it. The tension, the chase, the catching up, all that and your brilliant feel of THEM makes this fic perfect. You've created an incredible atmosphere here.
Thank you for making my afternoon. I seriously hope this isn't the first and the last fic.
Thank you so much! I am absolutely obsessed with their pre-series history. Which is odd because I usually don't care much for pre-series events, of any show that I like. But they just have all that baggage, and not necessarily in a bad way. So it's really fun to explore that. And we just know with those two? It had to have been tense. I'm so glad you think I managed to capture that; I'm always so nervous about first fics in a new fandom.
I'm sure it won't be; Nate and Sophie have taken up permanent residence in my head now, and I already have a few other things planned.
Oh, this is really lovely. I really like the way the tension between them builds over time and place, the glimpses into what it was about those years of chasing and running that made them into the people they became. But I really like that moment in Boston, where things are left unresolved, because it makes me wonder if Nate really does leave things too long, or if there's another scene, sometime in the future, where Nate figures out that there's a way to make Sophie stop running.
So, yes. This is fantastic! Welcome to the fandom!
Thank you so much for the comment! I'm absolutely intrigued by their history, and I really hope they'll explore that more next season, even if it's just with teasing remarks here and there. And I actually almost wrote that scene you were talking about, but this fic felt complete when I got to the deleted scene, so I stopped. But it's one of those ideas that's still running around in my head and will probably eventually be written.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And thank you for the welcome, too!
Thank you! :D I think Barcelona would be my favourite, too, as a reader, but Cairo was my favourite to write. I cannot get over how well these two work together in fic.
I think it ended so well. Obviously all of it was great and well written and that kiss probably sent my brain flat-lining for several minutes (seriously, it did), but the ending was just....so Nate. As much as I want them to sort things out, neither of them are ready at the moment, so to have them wrap it up with a pretty bow would be strange. Instead you showed just what he would do. Close in on himself with alcohol and self-pity/self-doubt, hoping she'll be the one to come back to him, because he's just too damn broken to realize he has to go after her for once.
Thank you so much for writing this, and I can't wait to read more!
Oh that's great! I'm so happy you liked the way it ended, because I'd originally planned to write an additional scene where they finally deal with all this, you know, the scene where Nate gives in to temptation, but when I had the five moments and the deleted scene done, the fic felt finished. I spent a few days trying to come up with a scene that would wrap this up, but then decided I didn't really want to. So yeah, I'm really happy it worked for you. Especially considering it's so similar to what we see on the show, with the back-and-forth and the flirting that we see.
Thank you! I have a weakness for five things fics (especially when I can set those five things in different cities), I'm not sure I can write anything else right now. So I'm happy that works for you! :)
And I most certainly will. I already have a few things planned. Let's see how it goes.
