And it's yet another newcomer! At least this one has been lurking for a while and won't be asking the usual obvious question.

"How much does this place change people?"

It helped me become more sociable.

"That must make it pretty powerful if you are anything like your alternate in my world, Fujimiya-san." Mamoru smiles slightly more warmly than being friendly would call for.

I found myself at loose ends. I found some great people here, and they could see me outside of my usual context.

"Oh, yes, that does make sense. Forgive me if this is presumptous, but are you happy?" If Mamoru seems wistful, it must be a trick of the light! Really!

It depends on the person. If they are a very black-and-white kind of personality, it tends to open them up considerably. People who have a high level of paranoia, paradoxically, tend to find themselves loosening up a bit because the AVF gets them used to interacting with people without bloodshed, and because for the most part people here tend towards benevolence.

If someone's already fairly open-minded and reasonably trusting - without being utterly naive, that is - then the effect is less pronounced.

"So it would be reasonable to think that someone might start to consider options besides violence on a regular basis?"

Well, if he's been hanging out here for any length of time, he'll have gotten into the habit - attempting violence can wind up actually rebounding on the attacker rather painfully, and even if it doesn't, it's rather frustrating to try to stick a knife in someone repeatedly and only dull your blades on the anti-violence field.
