She doesn't think about it. She wakes up from the nightmare still afraid, and activates the PINpoint to take her somewhere she feels safe

"My friends." He would say his family, but, well...

"Not really. I went to school, but..." Kowa was hardly an example of a normal school experience even if you weren't an undercover assassin trying to investigate experiments taking place at said school.

"Really? What school?"

[lifetimedestiny]

"Kowa Academy." He doesn't sound at all happy about it. In fact, he looks ill just recalling it.

"Me too!"

She notices his expression and becomes more somber. "It can be a really difficult and draining school, can't it?"

Sena's eyes widen and he very nearly curses.

"You NEED to get out of there!" He almost sounds afraid. Scratch that, he does sound afraid.

His vehemence makes her take a step back and for a moment she is at a loss for words.

Aya-chan's not the only one. Sena's very nearly shaking. That mission...

Needless to say, Sena's not recalling fond times at his old school.

Aya cannot help but notice how shaken he is. She slowly reaches out to gently place her hand on his arm.

"Can you tell me why?"

Sena takes a shaky breath before explaining.

"...The last mission I went on was to infiltrate Kowa and gather information about an Esset project. Our target was called Epitaph. That's the reason I was enrolled there, along with another teammate, Kyou...Aya was there too, using a teaching position as cover."

"Kyou died, killed by one of the Z-class. Nozomi-chan...she was one of my classmates...died, she was compelled into committing suicide, she jumped out the window right in front of me and I couldn't help her..."

"...I died. Epitaph was Kisaragi Fumie...my mother. I'd joined Weiss to find out what happened to her. Why she'd killed my father and sister and then disappeared. I couldn't kill her before she shot me."

"There's...genetic experimentation going on at the school. Conditioning." He snorts. "Brainwashing. It's all part of a giant Esset project. Kowa's the center of it all."

Aya listens attentively. When he finishes she will pull him into a hug if he lets her.

"I'll get my brother to transfer me out. Should I tell him why?

"I'm sorry you had to go through that."

"That mission happens in 2002...I don't know what year it is where you're from...but...it might help somehow. There was a teacher that Aya-sensei liked...maybe she wouldn't die if he knew what was going to happen."

[dream_departed]

"1999. I hope we can keep anything bad from happening -- to both of you."

Sena shakes his head. "It doesn't really matter as long as you're okay..." And then he trails off as if remembering something that would just make it worse. "...they haven't offered you a spot in the S-class yet, have they?"

[dream_departed]

"They offered. I turned it down. I couldn't take the extra responsibility with all the Nexus stuff going on."

Sena looks even more panicked now, but at least she turned it down, that means they shouldn't be after her...right? The normal students weren't the ones being brainwashed...

"Seriously, you need to get out of there as soon as you can. I don't think they'll go after you since you never accepted the offer, but..."
