It's been just a little longer for Jack than it has for most people since his last visit. He walks in, frowning slightly. He clears his throat and asks in a reasonably businesslike manner.

"Suppose a person is known among her aquaintances for her unfailing adherence to her word, and trusts her friends and relations implicitly. Now suppose some of those friends, among themselves, openly mock both tendencies, but have not actually indicated any particular conspiracy against her.

"Is it in her best interest to know about this, or just not something an easily upset person needs to hear until further evidence is available?"

((Sorry for posting again so soon, but the scenario wouldn't get out of my head.))
