"Get him the Sandman comic books," Julio says. "They kick ass. And it is because they are old enough to want to get out, but not yet allowed to."

Mari bites the inside of her lip to keep from grinning too much at the suggestion. "He has those, but it is a good idea. Perhaps there are some other books we could give him."

I've never read "Sandman", but books are good...

How about fencing lessons, too? If he doesn't already know how to fence. That might help build his self confidence, as well (which may be the cause of him trying to be 'seen as more than he is').

"Books are very good things."

Some people wouldn't agree kids should be reading what Mari and the others have grown up on, but still.

Clara blinks and tilts her head. Somehow these girrls seem familar. "Well I don't know much about teenage boys but...You could get him a gift card to a favrote store. Or some good comic books."

Mari studies Clara's face for a moment, then smiles. "Thank you Clara."

Clara can't help but blink at Mari. "I have a feeling I should know you. Seeing as you know me." She smiles brightly. "So what can I call you? Sometimes here it's better to ask what you should call people, you see."

And she isn't in her uniform. Just herself so it's good Mari called her Clara.

*Mortimer spotted Amaris and Elfreda and hesitated a moment before approaching them. He was still LOL'ed, and it was vaguely embarrassing since he was certain his future self had told them hundreds of times to be careful of what they ate in the Nexus.*

There's lots of reasons teenage boys act like that. They're in a hurry to become men, they want to impress people, or maybe they're testing out a bigger role to see if they can actually take it on.

That voice...he sounds like dad. She peers at him.

"Yes, he is most fond of trying to impress his girlfriend. Which makes it all the more amusing when she has to save the day in the end."

*He looks back at her and smiles a little ruefully.* If the cookie woman is still around, don't eat the cookies. *Do as I say, not as I do...*

*He smiles.* Does she? Well at least he has good taste.

"...daddy?" She's shocked him into childish words. Good goddess! "I won't.

"And he does."
