And, cue the knowing smile! "Ooooh. Green-hair-dude? Ummm...you just know. 'S a happy feelin'."

"I know. But with you, one never knows. We'll just adopt you." This was not a confession. Totally not. You are completely mistaken if you think it is.

"I wouldn't mind bein' adopted by you an' green-hair-guy." Oh yes. She noticed. But she could pretend that she didn't.

"We'd coddle you. It'd be good for you, quite possibly. And his name's Jake." He smiles.

"It'd be new for me."

"Jake's a pretty name."

"I can coddle you without adopting you. What do you feel like doing right now?"

"It is, innit?" He grins.

She laughed. "I dunno. I'm pretty much free for the day."

"Real pretty."

"Paints?"

Spider grins and rakes a hand through his hair. "Yeah."

"I have some've those. We could totally paint t'gether."

She grinned and tried to think properly through the very loud chorus of 'He likes him' that was parading around in her brain. "Yep."

"Oh! We totally could, I suppose. I don't think I'm very good, though. But okay! Could be fun."

He bumps her shoulder. "Shut it, you. I can practically hear you."

"It's okay t' not be good at somethin'. Practice makes perfect."

She bumped him right back. "Not sayin' it out-loud."
