"Loyalty to the men. It should be every person's task to watch out for those beneath him, all that they can. If you don't watch out for the people's interests, what's the point of being a leader?"

Roy crosses his arms and casts an amused smirk. "So, what world are you from?"

Hello there, long-suffering sigh. "Why does everyone here seem to think I'm interested in being a leader?"

And while he's at it - "I'm from Moscow. If I pretend this is all a horrible dream, will it go away?"

Roy inclines his head in apology to the newcomer. "Sorry, I assumed. The way your question was worded, it sounded as if you had followers, which would actually relate to my personal experience."

"I've actually never heard of that area. Must be from a world on the other side of the other world's gate," he says mostly to himself, then realizes that this look-a-like is probably quite confused and cuts himself off to answer the question. "No, because it's not. Welcome to the Nexus."

"I commanded men during the civil war. What happens to them matters to me, that's all."

He shakes his head, looking more resigned than annoyed by this point. "Some girl already told me about this Gate of yours. I wasn't sure I believed her, but..." He trails off, since yeah, it's easier to buy with a double standing right in front of him.

"Neither is more important, I'll certainly be more loyal to a commander that's loyal to me than who isn't" Havoc shrugs, then studies him closely.

"Thanks." And great, now he's getting stared at. "...what?"

"Nothing, you just look like my commanding officer, both of them actually" he shrugs. "I don't suppose your name is Mustang?"

"No, it's Mushailov. Apparently I'm from the other side of the gate." Whatever the hell that means.

"Your men, of course. They're the ones putting their asses on the line to achieve the collective goal, and they're the ones who're more likely to stick with you if you screw something up." Edward paused a moment, then added, "If the commander is someone you can respect, then loyalty to him is more than understandable."

(( Nooo, I didn't post too soon last time. *facepalm* Oh, and, YAY someone took an alter!Roy. :3 This will teach me not to procrastinate when I ponder doing these things on my own, but it looks like you did awesome things with him. ))

He just smirks. "I've been in the military for ten years and I've never had a commander worth my respect." And clearly he doesn't recognize Edward at all.

((Hee! If by "awesome things" you mean "spawned a cranky foul-mouthed military dude." XD;;))

"Heh. Six years, myself, and I've only had one that was worth the bother of respect." He arched a brow. This man looked quite a bit like Mustang, but he didn't seem to recognize him. "Edward Elric," he offered, holding out a hand to shake. "And you would be?"

((Exactly! XD ))

"Then you're one up on me." He shakes the hand briskly - and nope. Still no recognition. "Rurik Ivanovich Mushailov."

Oh, loyalty to your men- it usually works out better in the long run.

Welcome to the Nexus, I'm Alphonse Elric... and you are...?

I'm not getting a Mustang vibe here. o_ô

"Comrade Rurik Ivanovich Mushailov - and no, I'm not a Mustang." He just looks bemused. "Should I start wearing a sign?"

Ohhh, a Russian then, I take it? I'm afraid you're greatly outnumbered by Roy Mustangs around here. We don't have many people from the other side of the Gate here. I happen to live in your world, but most of the others aren't used to meeting alternates who look like the people they know, but aren't.

He frowns a little, but nods warily. "That's right. I live in Moscow. And no offense kid, but I'd rather be surrounded with versions of this Mustang person than versions of me."
