Viruses- I hates them, precious, I do

Not going to be on for a few days. The virus I got from one of those dead-end links on the recs page turns out to be much more insidious than previously thought, and I'm going to have to nuke my hard drive tonight and reformat tomorrow.  I just cant get all the beasties off the registry files and such, and my computer is running ( Read more... )

Which security program are you using? I recommend StopSign - it's an online service that you pay for by the month (reasonable) and there's a free initial cleaning scan - might have to pay to have things removed, but it's always worked beautifully for me. Until I bought a new comp with Windows Vista, that is. Damn thing was incompatible with StopSign and I had to switch to OneCare, which seems to work just fine as well, just more annoying.

*&&&^%$##@$%^ viruses. Sorry for your troubles, love :)

Oh, so sorry to hear this, love. I've had similar nightmares before, and I now swear by Trend Micro's products - it wipped out stuff that Norton, McAfee, and eTrust missed. They've got a free "house call" virus scan that works well as a starter.

Best of luck, and I will say a little pray for your comp and all of your files.
