Disclaimer: All I can claim as mine is the way I’ve written the story (the ideas I have) and the people that aren't well-known (stars, actors, actress or characters). I just write for my own amusement. For me it is one way to exercise my English and see if I'm good at putting it all together. So this isn't done to try and make any profits.
Author’s note: I was too lazy to look up some information about the named animals here, so bear with me if there might be things that are not entirely correct.

Summary: The relationship between Orlando and Melanie seems always to be on the edge.
Melanie was driving up to the cottage but had to stop just before getting into the parking space they had for the cars because there was a cage standing in the way. She turned off the ignition and jumped out of the car. Stretching in to bring the bags she had brought with her.
‘What has he brought-bought this time?’, she thought, her steps anything but light as she struggled with the many bags she was carrying. Passing the cage she tried to see what it contained, but wasn’t able to make out what it could be. Melanie continued up to the door and almost lost one of the bags when she managed to turn the knob. She draw the door open, as she step to the side for be able to get inside.
“Darling is it you?” she heard Orlando call from the bedroom. “Please, hurry in so you won’t let any of the little ones out!”
She replied with only a ‘hurmphf’ and did as he asked. She looked down to see where the small ones might be since she didn’t want to step on any of them. They were too many and curious pairs of eyes were looking at her and in her opinion all too nerve-racking.
The way to the kitchen seemed to be the easiest path to take, so she chose that one. Of habit, she put her foot to the door and pushed it to get it closed, but she wasn’t fast enough as a deafening crying came from the chink of the door.
“Melanie! What are you doing?”
Before she was able to answer Orlando was standing in the doorway with the unfortunate polecat. She looked over at him and watched as he stroked it.
“What’s in the cage out on the lawn? More pets you just had to bring here? You know what I think of all these animals.”
“I was about to move it as soon as I got Frodo and Arwen into it.” he replied. Before he continued he bent down and let the polecat run. “I’ve sold them, so there will be two less.”
“But there are still too many left. What has gotten into you? You seemed to be satisfied with Sidi before. Not long after I gave the cottage to you and you were able to spend more time here, you’ve brought one, then another and another. Don’t you think there is a limit as to how many pets we can possible have?”
“They at least want to spend more time with me than you seem to want to. I can’t help it if they mate and get little ones. I put an add out, sold four and hopefully the other two will also be bought soon.”, he explained.
“That solves the problem with the polecats, but what about Bianca, Bernard and Benji?”
“Please, stop it! You wanted to adopt them just as much as I wanted to.” Orlando was pissed and turned his back to Melanie and walked back to the bedroom.
“Don’t you turn your back to me!” Melanie shouted and stomped after him. Every time they started a fight these past few months they never fully ended them. Often at some point Orlando walked away from their arguments.
“Excuse me, but I have two polecats to deliver and if you continue to brawl I won’t be able to catch them.”
Melanie hold her hands up and said; “When you get back can we please try to deal with this issue and a few others? I can’t take it anymore.”
“Sure, but please when you move around can you look out for the little ones?”
“I will try.” she answered.
