I had a most interesting luncheon yesterday. Remus Lupin invited me out to what I had thought was a meeting prefects. In actuality, it was all a ruse to get me to have lunch with him. Which is sort of sweet and endearing the more I think about it. Granted, that's not a way a gentlemen normally goes about catching my eye but it certainly was strange ( Read more... )

Now that I know that you're not going to laugh in my face, I won't be.

You must have me mistaken for someone else. I don't laugh in anyone's face. They're backs may be a different story. Are you sure you have the right Emmeline?

Hm, I suppose interesting is a promising word. Glad to hear you didn't curse my mate's head off. Would've had to hurt you if you'd done that, and I never like to hurt a lady...

Cursing him would have been most inappropriate in such a nice establishment. And it really wasn't something that merited that. Water throwing on the other hand...

Your loyalty to your friend is most admirable, and so are your manners. Although I have noticed that you never like to hurt a lady. Then I take it, you're not above hurting one at all?

Well, in most cases, ladies don't deserve to be hurt at all. (There are names for the types of women who do, but I won't mention any of them.) Occasionally, however, there are circumstances in which hurting one is acceptable and probably even advisable, that arise without compromising the honour of the woman as a lady. Cursing or hexing Remus would have been within your rights, I'd imagine, but would have constituted one of those instances.
