Had a follow-up appointment with the audiologist today.  Music seems a bit 'thin', and I asked her if there was an adjustment possible.  Short version: yes.  Longer version: the hearing aids are biased somewhat towards the treble end, and use compression to clarify sounds.  So, she flattened the response such that there is much more low frequency ( Read more... )

the loss of any sense is heartwrenching. But the loss of one upon which you rely heavily and use to bring greatest amount of join into your life is more so. Mourn your loss and feel no shame for it, for it as the loss of a child you have nurtured through the years, this sense of beauty dulled by tin of technology. Hugs

You're not losing your sanity. You have every right to feel grief/anger/whatever at your hearing loss.
