Names

The BBQ / party was a great success.  We squeezed everyone into our tiny little apartment and when we ran out of chairs, people just stood and mingled like they do at bars.  It was so nice to see people and to celebrate.  :)  I wish we had a bigger house so we could entertain more often, but this party was a reminder that people aren't that picky ( Read more... )

Glad the party went over well. That website would be useful, I think, because I'm terrible at thinking up new names. It's always like "Crap, I think I've already named a character John a couple of pages ago."

I have a very limited sense of what authentic old fashioned names are, and like having the cold, hard statistics to help me out. Otherwise I have the instinct to keep using some of the same names over and over, and then losing track of which character is which. (I have to remember to keep lists and update them.)

I think you are very wise to use the name tracker! We just got some paperbacks donated to the library last week, and one of the regency romance characters was named something like Brandi. With an i.

That website will definitely be useful in naming characters! (Also babies. I looked at it and freaked out because it felt waaaay too early to be looking up names!)

Glad the bbq went well!

I don't really watch Bones, but I hope you like!

Yeah, I was definitely not looking for baby names yet either! I do like looking at the trends, though. These days more and more people want unique names, so I imagine current classes won't have like 5 Jennys and 4 Matts, which felt like the norm when I was in elementary school.
