here, it's a WA tradition to be in the 40s when school goes back. this year was no exception.
No one who has grown up with North Queensland summers gets used to it. We proclaim each summer worse than the one that came before it; we complain of the heat and swarm to the beach. Same here. Every year is worst than the last, if you listen to people in supermarket queues making small talk.
There's something about extreme heat, though. It may be disgusting and draining and render your day useless, but it's very...Australian, or something.
Heh. Nobody else gets togs. It's such a hard word to explain, too! Why on earth do we use it? LOL.
True; the heat is a characterising factor. Someone Scottish asked me the other day, "please tell me it doesn't snow in Australia", because to her, the concept of snow was too much at odds with our sunny weather. I suppose we should be thankful not to live in the dead, dry heat of the Nullarbor, or something.
Wow, you can actually feel the heat in your writing and that's saying a lot I'm sitting here in a scarf!
I don't think I could pick a favourite line it's all very good. Enjoy your internet free days dear, be sure to bring back reports of how the other-half live :P.
Aww. Thank you! The other half live very bored like, LOL. Cable TV has kept me going, but when there's no one else staying with me I have to make up songs about cheese.
On the plus side, I can play Maroon5 really loudly!
