Trunks sighed, running his hand through his long hair before tying it back. He was running out of ideas to get his student in the air. The latest one, taking Teri a good five-hundred feet in the air and dropping her hadn’t worked very well. Thank Kami it hadn’t been his idea. She had come close, but a tree had been closer. Trunks barely caught her on time and had gotten an earful of curses in five different languages. They decided to NOT try that again.
(Maybe it’s because she’s human)
(Nah, ‘cause Krillin had been human, as was Yamucha)
(Female?)
(Maybe, but I doubt it)
(Maybe because she’s from another world?)
(Better, but still unlikely)
(Hmmm...)
Caught up in his thoughts, the demi Saiya-jin didn’t notice the approaching ki signature until he was barreled off his feet by a blurred shape.
“TRUNKS-SENSEI!”
Trunks looked up, wide-eyed at the happily grinning young woman sitting on his stomach. How in the hell had she caught him so off-guard? Unreal. “And why are you so happy?” He asked, a bit cross at being caught unexpectedly.
“Lookie!” Teri said happily. And she floated off him, obviously straining, but still flying none the less.
“Kuso...” Trunks breathed, jumping lightly to his feet. “Yo-you’re flying! How?”
Teri set her feet back on the ground and grinned. “Drop someone from the air, don’t work. Put their best friend in mortal danger, booya! They be is flying like a butterfly!”
Trunks grinned in return. “Well, you need some practice, but you finally got it!” he said “Will you keep coming back for lessons or is my job done?”
“Maybe and no.” Teri replied, her grin turning mischievous. “I may come back for lessons, I don’t know yet. But either way, you’re still a sensei.” He jerked her thumb over her shoulder. Trunks blinked. Three other young women stood behind Teri, watching the two. Trunks blinked again. “Your new students.” Teri said with a grin. “And in return, I made you a remote, as promised.” She handed the younger man a slim black case. “Happy birthday.”
“My new...students?” Trunks asked slowly. “They want to learn as well?”
“Yep!” Teri replied. Her smile turned absolutely evil. “They don’t know what training I went under.” she said quietly. “Time to break out the shells. I can be your assistant or something like that.”
Trunks smiled in spite of himself. “True, it WAS fun, and now I somewhat know what I’m doing.” He looked at the three women again and shrugged. “Sure, why not? I’ll do it. Only if you help, though.”
“Hai, sensei!” She said brightly. “You get the shells, I’ll get the students ‘prepared’.”
Trunks nodded and disappeared around the side of the Capsule Corp. dome. Teri marched resolutely up to her friends. “Well?” Keeren asked. “Will he teach us?”
Teri nodded. “Yes, yes he will.” She said. “He’s getting his instruments of teaching now.”
Missy blinked. “What’re those?”
Teri smiled. “You’ll see.”
Trunks came back in front, three shells slung over his arms by the straps. Three jaws dropped. “S-shells?” Renee stuttered. “What the heck are those for?”
Teri grinned wickedly. Renee had never watched enough Dragon Ball. Missy and Keeren were figuring it out, however.
“There is no way I’m wearing THAT.” Missy said, pointing to Trunks.
“Then,” Teri said. “There is NO way you’re flying. Deal. It’s not so bad after the first few weeks.”
“Shells...” Keeren drawled.
“And vests.” Teri said. “To wear when you’re not here.”
“So THAT’S what that was!” Missy snapped. “A training vest for flying! We thought you were working on a bullet-proof armor!”
“I’m an electrical engineer.” Teri said patiently. “Why would I make a bullet-proof vest?”
“The hell if I know!” Missy exclaimed. “You’re you! Who knows!”
“Ok, students.” Trunks said. “If you’ll all please put these on...”
