He thinks gay marriage should be legal, but it should be legalized by the states, and that the federal government should not interfere in matters such as marriage. Not an unusual position for a Republican, I think; in general, they seem to support less interference of the federal government in general.

Any Republicans reading this can feel free to correct me, of course.

I think it already is, by having marriage as a government institution. Now, I think there need to be laws that legalize gay marriage, because if there aren't, they won't be permissible.
