Well, in New York City they began cracking down on little infractions like littering, and the crime went down as people started thinking, "If they'll get you for the little things, don't even try the big stuff." Not that I like that strategy myself; it's obnoxious. I trust you'll be very wary around that intersection for some time to come.

And I promise I'm writing out the story of the driveway pullover. But I must go to work myself right now.

Well, it's a philosophy that has merit, and Rudy did a great job cleaning up the city. If we lived in some trashy crime-ridden neighborhood, I'd be all about a police presence for minor things.

But this is a quiet, poky little residential area. This particular three-way intersection is the only place it's even possible to break any laws - the streets aren't long enough to speed down. So when I see a cop parking under the trees and tagging every stop-sign runner when she could be patrolling the elementary school a mile away for drug dealers, child predators, and traffic infractions during pick-up, I see a cop who is taking the lazy route.
