Hello, hello again

Sep 21, 2013 09:46

It's been almost a year since my last post! I don't know how I got out of the habit of blogging. I guess my life got strange and unpredictable, and for a while I felt like I had nothing to say (and then, for another period of time, I had so much to say that it felt overwhelming to post!). So let me see if I can make this update as succinct as ( Read more... )

I'm glad to hear you're in a position that you enjoy now. It's great that you've found a niche with subbing and it should give you some excellent experience for later. I'm also happy your move went well. It's good that you were able to room with a friend.

Yeah, for me, finding a niche became so much more important than making the more ambitious or reliable career choice. I get the feeling some people think the subbing is setting me back career-wise, or don't understand why I'm not actively campaigning for a full-time job. But I really just want to let it happen naturally, you know?

There's nothing wrong with taking some time away from the full-time position. It's better for you to be happy now instead of hating going to work every day.

Things are mostly good, in a lot of ways. There are rough patches, of course; even after a month, I still feel a little shaky in this job because it's so far from my comfort zone teaching-wise. I've noticed this manifests in me freaking out internally about seemingly random and unpredictable things every once in a while (Thursdays in particular seem to be my "internal meltdown" days). Finances are still a significant struggle even with long-term sub pay, and my many outside responsibilities sometimes get overwhelming. But like you, I'm hanging in there, and things will eventually balance themselves out.

Wow, less than a month before James is two! He won't be "baby" James anymore. <3 I don't know when the next time I'll be in Westminster is- my sister who lives there gets married in two weeks, but that's down in my area, not in Carroll County- but the next time I'm around, we will have to get coffee or something. :)

Great to hear you have a job you enjoy. Being in your 20s is the time to struggle with money and figure out your life path. I think you are doing it right. =)
