Sara, I think this is a VERY brave decision. Some people would go along even though they were miserable, but you have decided to make things move and enact change in your life---good for you!!! :) Why do you think you don't get along with the kids? Is it something that happend at the beginning of the year? Also, I'd like to chat with you about MCPS if you get the chance. Going from growing up in MCPS to working here, I've found out a lot about the county from a teacher's perspective. It can be a tough place to work, but also very rewarding. Let's talk sometime!! :)
Thanks, Justine! I procrastinated on making the decision for a long time, but I've known for a while that it wasn't working out. Things have improved a lot since the beginning of the year, so I got optimistic, but it's just not adding up. I think I'd feel better in a different place

My darling girl! It's hard to find the right fit all the time. And as wonderful it is to hear about a faculty and admistration that is for once supportive, if you don't feel comfortable with the kids you can't really feel comfortable teaching them.
You keep looking and I'll keep praying and you'll get put in the right place. I know you are a wonderful teacher, because you are a wonderful person and soon you will be happy and comfy and have classrooms of adoring students.
I think this sounds like a great move. I think this is one of things where there's a lot of internally generated self-pressure to stick it out. But a not-quite fitting place is what it is. The sooner you get in a place where you feel alright, the sooner you can get back to enjoying life and having adventures. :)

This is my favorite piece of consolation/advice I have received in ages. :) I think my trip this summer will be my first adventure after this school year, and it'll move in a positive direction from there. Even though I haven't been 100% happy where I am, I still feel like things are going in the right direction. I just have to figure out what the right decisions are at the moment. Here's hoping an opportunity presents itself!
