Budget cuts and financial belt-tightening have impacted murder investigations in Los Angeles. Detectives say they're being forced to take days or weeks off to avoid racking up any overtime hours.

Let's not forget that the people making these rules have most likely never had anyone they love murdered. What's more, if the did I doubt it went unsolved. And I seriously doubt that they have ever actually seen a real crime scene. Their decisions are based on how many crimes Horatio and his gang solve. Horatio from CSI: Miami for those of you that were confused right there. So, have them miss a few more crooks and you might see cops getting better pay.

On a side note: Fuck that. If I were a cop and off duty, I'd still run around with a damn radio and put people under citizen's arrest. Face palm.
