Oh for god's sake, I HAD to read the Yarn Harlot's blog today... now I'm suckered in just like everyone else. Are any of the rest of you doing the Mystery Stole KAL this summer? Of course I signed up and then hopped over to Knit Picks since I have no lace weight yarn in my stash (weird?) but then after I placed my order I realized that it will ( Read more... )

Gah. I had heard about it a week ago and then I went to Three Bags Full on Main St and they had their swatch done on display and now the Harlot. I would have if I didn't have a gazillion and one other things to knit that are CURRENTLY ALREADY ON NEEDLES. One is a lace shawl. Maybe I'll wait for Mystery Stole 4.

Have you started packing yet? ;)

Actually yes. Our condo is so small that it needs to be decluttered before we start showing it for sale. That's pretty much my entire plan for the weekend too, packing and cleaning. Thankfully since the place it still practically brand new there isn't a ton of cleaning to do, but we have to fix up some nicks and scuffs and stuff. But this weekend is all about packing and moving boxes full of stuff to the studio so we can get it on the market in the next week or two.

I seriously would have signed up the second I read the post, but I don't have the extra knitting $ right now to do it!! Saving it all up for Saltspring.

Ok, I just read that this year's stole is not recommended for beginning lace knitters *coughcoughMEcough* and being that my previous attempts at lace have failed miserably, I will pass. I will however, begin working on my lace skills so that next go around, I'll be able to do it.

The lace shawl you sent me in the Secret Pal swap, by the way, gets a lot of use (and a lot of compliments) at work. It bounces between my desk and my favourite pharmacist's desk who works until 9 at night. She very much appreciates your work, since the vent that she sits under likes to turn her area into Antarctica.

I'm very glad! It was my first attempt at lace and I loved it so much I made several more. I have had one for myself on the needles for almost a year now, but I never seem to be able to finish knitting for myself. I guess I need a deadline to get anything done!

Same here. I popped out 2 pairs of socks in no time for my sister. My socks sat for almost an entire year before they were finished.

kind of tempting, but I have deadline-knitting going on right now, some of which is a lace scarf. have fun! have you ever ordered from knitpicks before? IT IS AWESOME. and if you like circulars, their circular needles rule. they have a new sock yarn I want to try, even though I have a giant stash of sock yarn.

Too bad, you'll be so jealous as it progresses! I am looking forward to it, except my stinkin' yarn is going to take another week at least. I'm going to be so far behind!!!
