I'll admit I might actually watch even though I'm not a huge NCIS fan (the horror) but they just had such chemistry at the emmy's.

Despite having seen EVERY NCIS ep, I'm not a big fan either - I think I stuck with it partially because I was amazed a show could make me so angry so often! But the Los Angeles variation was relatively non-offensive, at least in the pilot, and those two have chemistry for DAYS and the show seems to know it.

Plus, O'Donnell's character has a good deal of damaged woobie potential. Awwwwww......

LOL! They were awfully cute together, weren't they? I'm not sure I'll be watching regularly yet, though. Everybody's so damned competent and exceptional and sharp about everything. I like my TV shows to have a bunch of flawed people dicking around like they don't know what to do. LMAO! We'll see. I am a big fan of that cutie Chris O'Donnell, so I may give it a few more eppies. One question, though - since I've never watched any of the NCIS shows - what do the initials stand for? National Criminal Something Something?

Also, if I didn't know what you were talking about the words VD FANDOM would disturb me greatly.

I think O'Donnel's character might just be broken enough to be really interesting! He's a damagd woobie, that's for sure, and LL Cool J's job seems to be reacting to him exactly how slash fangirls would want him to (that wink!). Plus, it's FAR LESS OFFENSIVE than the average ep of NCIS: Original Recipe.

(NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Unit, and they theoretically only deal with Navy and Navy-related crimes, but you can pretty much ignore that 90% of the time. They sure do!)

I am hoping that everyone refering to Vampire Diaries as VD is going it with irony? Though it is a CW show, so there's lots of people having a lot of dubiously protected sex, so we could run that "vampirism is an STD" metaphor into the ground.....

I do like O'Donnell's brokenness. NOBODY EVER GAVE THE BOY A BIRTHDAY CARD. Now that's just WRONG. Far less offensive? What do you mean? *iz curious*

Also, thanks for the definition of NCIS - makes sense. The hubby and I were flummoxed.

LOL about VD. I used to work in an STD clinic so of course my mind goes right there every time. Ah, the memories.

LOLOL

And there's the whole "I am an orphan! No one ever told me my name! I go by "g" because an initial is ALL I HAVE IN THIS WORLD!" Awwwwwww.

I tend to find the original incarnation of NCIS to be very homophobic, sexist and racist, as well as fond of lazy storytelling. It's been better in recent seasons, but the first few ran about a 25% chance of EVIL QUEERS in every ep. Plus, Tony DiNozzo, one of the male leads, tends to strike me as a skeevy, deeply closeted, sexually harassing jerk. Some people interpret this as an attempt to cover up that he is all damaged and scared that people will figure out how much he really wants to sleep with both his male boss AND his male partner. I buy this, and STILL end up yelling "I HATE YOU" at the television every other episode, but YMMV. (Plus, I already dislike Micheal Weatherly from being less than nice to Jensen on the set of Dark Angel, and am therefor biased)

I think we can likely set up the equation where any given CW show is the "before" part, and a visit to an STD clinic is the most logical

This is pleasing news, I'm just downloading NCIS and NCIS:LA now. Very much looking forward to watching them.

My relationship with the original NCIS is a bit complicated - about a quarter of the time, I sort of hate it, but it's so well put together that I still get carried along, but NCIS: LA was enjoyable throughout. I am waiting with bated browser to see what people are going to do with Chris O'Donnell's character; he's one of the most interesting new fictional people I've seen in a while, and L.L Cool J's Sam Hanna seems fun!

I know what you mean about NCIS, I've been rewatching it the last week or so and I really enjoy the team dynamics, their quirks, continuity nods etc. But there are the odd things that jar me and set my teeth on edge. I really liked the backdoor pilot they did on NCIS: LA and I'm looking forward to seeing the team on their own.

NCIS remains the only television show I've ever cursed at, in a yelling, ranting, "why the hell am I watching this moralistic, homophobic, racist piece of crap" way, but then sometime's it's all adorable and happy making and exciting. Plus, I LOVE Abby and Ducky enough to make up for my dislike of Tony. I do not understand how it became the most popular show on US television (20 million live viewers last night! Not counting DVRs and streaming and downloads. INSANE), but it's entertaining enough.
