I love the turn of phrase at the end there-- it's concise and gorgeous, showing John's absence and the lingering feeling of grief and the sense that for now all that was 'family' is just broken.

maybe John made his bed when he charged Dean with Sam and left the boys to pick up the pieces.
I have often thought so, that and when John told Dean no-one else was to be trusted except family and gave Dean no chance to love anyone that wasn't. Dean's choices were over before they started.

Maybe amidst the chaos of their lives, something wrong is the only thing that turns out right.
Wonderful concluding line, with the paradox that is everything that defines the Winchesters' world as different from that of other people.

Bobby as the observer does indeed hit a spot. I'm happy you like it, too. :)

That car is and it means so much in the context of the Winchester family that it just breaks my heart to consider it sometimes, the things communicated either via what happens to the Impala or how it's being treated. What seems to have been the general fan reaction to the very end of "Devil's Trap" (1x22) probably drove home just how much of a character that car is. And seeing it in pieces in 2x01 and 2x02... *sniff*

That right there is probably the reason the demons get so much out of possessing people around Dean, namely John and Sam.
There are so many ways the boys are broken, it's occasionally a miracle they're functioning as well as they are.

Bobby's an easy character to chat up, imo. And the more I've thought about him, the harder it's been for me to believe he'd condemn wincest between Sam and Dean. Assuming, of course, that neither of the boys would seem hurt by it. Safe, sane, consensual. That applies to every form of human love, not just the BDSM scene, imo.

There's something about the boys+Impala+Sun that does things to me, sense-wise. I'm not sure I'd go as far as having them fucking around the scenery of "Everybody Loves A Clown" (2x02), but... maybe I could ignore the canon in favour of some PWP? *ponders*
