The Visual Story at a Glance: "Bad Day At Black Rock" (3x03) for
spnematography.
I tried to write crack!meta, but apparently that just means that the censor gets a day off.
hugemind asked me prettily to do this, if I had any thoughts on a single cap in the episode.
(
And thus I did )

My thoughts? (I'm spoiler-free)
Jesus was the other boy king. So maybe these stickers are more than just a riff on Kubrick. Maybe they are as you say, a riff on the whole season arc. How would that other boy king do things if he hadn't been asked to sacrifice himself, but instead his brother? How much does family shape who we are? who we become? And would that other boy king have made the same choices if he had been part of a different family? Sacrilige, I know...
Regarding sticker two: Has the activity of season two already caused God to come down there? What do we know about the emmisaries of god in this verse? I sit possible that they may be indistinguishable, to human eyes, from "Demons"?
And Bethlehem? Well, all I can think of when I hear that is Yeats. With his imagery that seems straight out of SPN:
Turning and turning in the widening gyre ( ... )

All discussions about Jesus Christ are like talking about the shadows on the cave wall: we can't know how it was, or what he would have done, walking down the What If-lane...
The Show, however, seems to try and make us wonder about the boys' bond, how much it matters, how much it can weather. I hope it'll prove enough for Sam to stay on this side of the line.
Perhaps God has always been here, but, like you suggest, 'unseen' by the protagonists. He works in mysterious ways, after all.
The angels have been mentioned, then and again, but no genuine appearance has been verified yet, either. We're still waiting.
Yeats is awesome. I'm happy someone's made the connection between his works and Supernatural. :)

You know, looking at that cap now, it kinda looks like someone's on their knees in front of Kubrick, doing only god knows what... And if he's really trying aim for Good with a capital G, I'm not sure he's going to find it there. ;)
However, he only rode an ass, so...
I'm so not going there. *repeats like a mantra* not going here, not going there, not going there. *twitches*
Did you notice the two orange, out-of-focus spots of light in the front end of the RV? Like eyes watching Kubrick? This would suggest that Kubrick's path may not be separate from the path of the Demon Messiah, that Kubrick will have a part to play in the coming Unholy War. Alternatively, it indicates that demons are perverts with voyeuristic tendencies. And oh noez! This proves without a doubt that Sam is a demon because he, too, is a peeping tom!!1!1
In conclusion, I love the way your brain works. :)

I can't ignore that comical demon getting a peek at the action from behind the RV, either...
*headdesk*
Thesaurus, you idiot. Use the thesaurus next time... because I couldn't honestly remember 'donkey'...
Yes! Voyeurism is a sign of the devil! That's why the bartender guy in Sin City (3x04) was so quick to suggest it! He was demonically affected, too! *win*
You've just added a whole new layer into my metas, you know. Pervy layer, but, hey... it's all good.
*snuggles your brain*
