To make up for the lack of demons in the last few episodes, they decided to splurge on red and yellow for this ep.
Unfortunately, I can't really meta about this ep.
Not a picspam.
( 2x08: Crossroad Blues )
"Look, your dad's supposed to be alive. You're supposed to be dead." This comment from the RED troubles me. If she's not just fucking with Dean's head, then it suggests there's something like Fate or Destiny, the hourglasses filled with sand. It suggests, to me, that Dean's a wild card whose moves no one can really foretell, and that John's sacrifice was just one hell of a gambit..." -----
Doesnt this just mean that literally, Dean should have died Aug 2006. John died in his place, while John was of good health after the crash and should have lived?
The part that made me curious was that she said John was to live a long, natural life (whe she said she could bring him back). Really? John?? I didnt see him living long enough to qualify for a Srs dicount at MacDonalds. Aside from the kinda suicidal streak, not the safest occupation.
Yeah, I second that. RED said that she could bring back John "just as he was" and that he'd "live a long and natural life". This seems incongruous because after Sam became undead, the YED (arguably Kripke using the YED as a mouthpiece) made a point to taunt Dean about Sam not being "100% pure Sam" (what's natural about that?). Then there's the fact that Sam shot Jake not once or twice, but seven times. Pre-death!Sam probably would've apologized and shed tears after shooting a dog, let alone a person. *snortlaugh* OK, I exaggerate a tiny bit. ;) Perhaps this was a slip of the pen, a detail that was overlooked in the writer's room.
My fascination with another fandom all about Destiny vs. Free Will is the only defense I can come up with for getting my knickers twisted over those words.
But yeah... John? Long, natural life? Yeah, right. :)
So, the demon stayed topside after George had summoned it. Yeah, it worked for the plot, but somehow I'm finding the concept a little odd... But my brain's too tired to think about that now.
And, dude, the meaningful looks... *smishes the show*
"Look, your dad's supposed to be alive. You're supposed to be dead."
Hmm, I'm just getting 'free will' vibes from this... Not that John was destined to be alive, but that he exercised his free will and sacrificed himself to save Dean. It'd be interesting if there was some future plot point based on this snippet, but the RED might just have been messing with Dean. Damn demons, you never can tell if they're lying...
The only way demons have gone back to Hell far as we've been told/shown is on the Exorcism-bus. And if we are to believe BED!Sam in BUABS (2x14), or Envy in Mag7 (3x01), the hellspawn's going to fight tooth and nail to stay out of there and in here.
Though why did the RED leave after that week? Did it get exorcised? Thought it had gotten enough bargains for its monthly quota?
RED was more than likely just messing with Dean. Just like her "Your misery's the whole point"-spiel... But that's why we love demons. They're delightful (sons-of-)bitches.
