Those Tiny Trifles: 1x22, Devil's Trap

Sep 10, 2007 02:04

Kripke and co. thought that if they'd go, they would at least go out with a bang. And honestly? That seems like the only fitting ending for the Winchesters...
Oh, and don't expect much thinky-thoughts from this. My objectivity's broken for this episode. Even more than usually.
Not a picspam.

What're the three names NotJohn calls Dean?

What I meant was that during the time John's possessed, he says 'Dean' three times. And not a single time after he calls their bluff.

Ah. So you mean, before Dean realizes he's NotDad, he calls him by name, but not after?

Yep, that's what I mean. ("Your brother's lost his mind" vs. "Dean's lost his mind.")
It's rather curious how loathe the YED seems to be to call Dean by name. Here, in In My Time of Dying (2x01)...in All Hell Breaks Loose (2x21; 2x22) I think, too. He freely uses both of Sam's names, but Dean... I wonder about the reasons for that.
BED!Meg, on the other hand, seems to use names as weapons. She says them like she owns them, like she believes in the idea that names have power.
Yeah, I'm writing a meta about names and demons and usage...Just have to do a bit of research first. :)

No one can blame you for lacking objectivity - this episode is just so hurty. But the way Sam looks at Dean through the rear view mirror and chooses Dean over hunting the demon... yeah, a little flicker of light in the darkness, there.

"Not everything."

Yeah... For the first time, I think, Sam can see just how much killing the YED might cost them. And he's been with Dean long enough, seen Dean as more/less than just a Big Brother for him to have an idea about what's inside Dean's head. Understand his elder brother a bit better.
*hugs the beautiful, broken boys*

Dear deities...how on earth can I survive watching 2x01 again?
Then again, with a bit of luck, I won't tear up as easily anymore come Friday...:)

JDM was practically blind in that scene?
...
Holy hell.

Lucky for me, I don't have a car of my own. Still doesn't stop me from freaking out when in the vicinity of vehicles and CCR comes on...;)

As for Bobby... I just thought that he thought the girl would survive the exorcism at first, but then, somewhere behind the scenes the boys told him about Meg. And perhaps he wanted to make sure Dean really, really knew what he was suggesting.
Maybe he still thought that the boys didn't have a human's death on their consciences at that point.

The dog...
All I say is that Rumsfeld was Bobby's bitch.
*hides*

Your view on Bobby...thats what I am going with, that he wanted them to be aware of what would be on their conscience.

You;ll hear it in various places on S2 commentary... the actors are TOTALLY blind when wearing the YED contacts.. for JDM to have that connection with Jensen...wow.

Jensen just listed it as his favorite squaring off with a demon scene of all time in that new CW interview...so I am holding to my JDM/JA theory! :P

(or at least the pretty visual)

Hi! I see I'm late to the party once again. *sighs* However, I'll be back home with a dedicated internet connection in less than 48 hours. *dances ( ... )

Your 'silly demon meta' is the best meta I've read in a while! And it all makes sense! *hugs*

The Colt's certainly a curious thing... John used it once, Dean and Sam both used it twice... and Sam's the only one who missed.
Obviously, I should never start thinking about numbers this late...(close to midnight here, now)

*hugs again*
Hugs are good. There's way too few of them being passed around, imo. And you can never have too many hugs.
*nods sagely*
