7. Language alone is enough to press all the buttons that really matter. That's wisely put. I totally agree. Add up a mass media and you will rule millions by language and expressive body language.
So do you have kids, if you don't mind me asking? How old?
I think I've made such meme a long long time ago...but as there are quite a lot of random things my f-list does not know about me, I will fill this one out tomorrow. It will be fun. Now sleep is the prevailing choice.
I'm not even sure why languages, the etymology of words fascinate me so much, but...no way to deny the effect of a well-formed thought. (Especially if it's said with just the right timbre...)
My firstborn turns five this year (oh, how the time flies!) and my second celebrates her second birthday this summer. It was actually a shock when I realized that husband and I have been together seven years this year...
Sleep? Yeah, I believe I've heard of such a thing. Methinks I have to try it, one of these days. ;)
Well, I've known my hub for...12 yrs? And we've been married in 1999. So I'm beating your marriage term. *g* I have two daughters: one turns 4 in September, the other one just celebrated her first anniversary.
So, that's why when they are asleep, I have to turn in too. Instead I've been d'loading slashy vids from YouTube.
1. I have this thing about feet, where I hate them. Like, literally. They creep me the fuck out. Except for dog and cat feet, ‘cause those are just cool

I think I sort of forgot how weird feet can be once I counted my babies' toes. :)
3. The Baptist school I attended for thirteen years is the reason I gave up on the Christian god.
I'm surprised anyone 'remains true' after that... Luckily, all the teachers of religion I've had were, more or less, realists. Family not so much, though.
You've held snakes! The closest I've ever gotten was about three feet from a grass snake...who seem to have a whole colony here.
Nice to meet you. :) Arachnophobia hasn't been seen around here since my firstborn discovered bugs and all other kinds of creepy crawlers a couple of years back. The kids have also helped me get over my terror of sharks.
Considering that seven years is more than a quarter of my whole life, it was a relative shock.
So, that's why when they are asleep, I have to turn in too.
Happily, my youngest requires verification of her parents' existence only after a couple hours, so that time? Mine. And my firstborn creeps to our bed to nap for an hour in the morning, but otherwise prefers his own bed. :)
3. The first time I read the Lord of the Rings, I finished it in a week and a half (I was barely 12).
Speed reader! Your eyes must've been practically flying! I was about 10 years later than you in my accidental discovery of LotR. My husband and I were in New Zealand and caught a Harry Potter movie the opening night of "The Fellowship of the Ring". When we got out at midnight, there were all these people dressed up as elves and such. I was curious so I bought the trilogy. Then I couldn't put it down and ended up lugging the whole thing on the Routeburn and Greenstone Treks on the South Island and reading with my headlamp in the tent. My husband couldn't get the book out of my hands until 10 days later when I was in my post good-book slump and feeling bereft. I think I reread it again.
Hey, what can I say? School wasn't really that interesting, I was practically bound to the bed, and I love books (even if that affair has suffered in recent years).
But Lord of the Rings is certainly a lovely book, and the world behind it... Silmarillion beats it in my bookshelf, though. If only because of Beren and Lúthien... and Fëanor.
