SO MANY THINGS have been going on. AMONG THEM:

- Well, not revising my thesis! Not yet. I need to email Prof Big Cheese and clarify a few things from the defense before I get started. My committee wants to see the revised Introduction by Friday, so I have time.

- Gilgamesh opened! ciaan came, which was NIFTY! I also went to the designers' grad pad ( Read more... )

If Sally Sparrow and Amy Pond ever teamed up. WELL. IT WOULD BE PRETTY EFFIN' AWESOME.

Yes, the Bishop! I forgot to mention him, but I quite liked that alternate point of view he provided. And you hit it on the nose, re: Eleven and Amy's rapport--I love how they interact. (And the way Amy's face quivers, just a little bit, when she thinks it's the end--oh, Amy.) Also, he, like, nuzzles her. It's adorable.

The Bishop's dialogue really gave so much depth- he wasn't a throwaway joke, he was clearly part of a whole world of backstory, and the actor really managed to convey a LOT of that. He felt like a tiny, perfectly rounded out person.

THE NUZZLE. OH GOD. THE NUZZLE. Like, seriously, I am generally not one to actively ship the Doctor (I think Nine and Rose are really the only exception... well, ok, that's a lie, Jack with ANY DOCTOR HE LIKES AND I THINK HE LIKES THEM ALL), but when the Doctor is GRINNING at Amy like that and then NUZZLES HER FONDLY. WELL. IT IS HARD TO RESIST. My friend Elissa has a habit while watching two characters with A++ chemistry of yelling 'MAKE OUT!' at the screen- these two are making it REALLY HARD TO RESIST. I think a lot of it also comes from just watching Matt and Karen interact in the Confidentials- their rapport onscreen clearly comes out of how well they get along in real life, and it's wonderful to watch.

Yeah, I don't really ship the Doctor with anyone, either (I tend not to ship people unless that's clearly the direction of the narrative, like rooting for people to get together in a romantic comedy), but I can see myself friend-shipping the heck out of Eleven and Amy. She teases him about being "Mr. Grumpy-Face," and he admits to it (though, admittedly, in the service of avoiding another question)! He blipped Amy with the sonic screwdriver when she asked if her dealing with the angel was good! He called her magnificent!

The show is just amazing, full stop. Also, the Doctor imitating the TARDIS landing sound. And the fact that "It's not supposed to make that noise. You leave the brakes on."

And: cute baby pic!

Yes, I'm counting down with you. Much more fun than other stuff I've been watching!

'But that's the Church for you. Uh, no offense, Bishop.'
'Quite a lot taken, if that's alright.'

I feel like a horribly broken record on this subject but I loved this for the contrast it provided to RTD who would never have let someone religious get through an episode with any dignity. (Plus Nine and Ten are both incredibly rude to the military just because they are military.)

Also, I don't like River Song any more because she broke the TARDIS noise. :(
