I take it as a great personal accomplishment that I am not yet dead. I've finally come back from spending too much time in a weird and unhappy emotional place- the worst of it hit when I was alone in the new flat and there was no one around to pat my head and tell me things would be ok. Also, thanks for bringing that book to my attention! I read a book by Pamela Service many years ago that I quite liked (The Reluctant God, which was tailor-made for me: bespelled boy pharaohs coming to life in the present; archaeological digs, at which said boy pharaoh is appropriately horrified; random adventures in England...), so I'll have to check that one out.

I never thought to try and find anything else by Pamela Service! If you read Weirdos, I can try and track down this other one, which sounds fantastic!
