The door was unlocked when Kyuhyun walked in at five in the morning. Zhou Mi was sitting at the table, the kitchen light on as he sat crouched over a textbook, studying.
“Why are you still up?” Kyuhyun asked, closing and locking the door. It took a moment fighting with it, and he had to open the door and slam it to make it finally align so he could lock it.
Zhou Mi looked up, rubbing his eyes. “I slept for a couple hours, but I need to study.” He jiggled the book he was reading out of. “I have a test. How was work?”
Kyuhyun shrugged, not coming towards Zhou Mi. He hadn’t been expecting him to be awake and he knew he smelled like cigarette smoke and cheap alcohol, and there might have been come on his jeans, he hadn’t been able to look yet. The 800,000 won was sitting in his back pocket and he needed to hide that away before Zhou Mi found it and wondered what he doing with that much money. “Boring. Night shifts normally are.”
“How long are you going to be doing them Kui Xian?” Zhou Mi pouted, stretching his arms over his head as he seemed to take a break. Kyuhyun really hoped that he wouldn’t.
“As long as they need me to.” Kyuhyun started to head towards the bathroom, hoping Zhou Mi wouldn’t follow him. “You should get back to sleep. Today is your long day.”
Zhou Mi’s pout turned into a frown as he watched Kyuhyun slink towards the bathroom. “Are you going to be taking a shower? I’ll join you.” He stood up, closing his text book. “I’ll need to take one in a couple hours and it’ll just be easier to do it now.”
Kyuhyun’s mind flashed back to the one client who had bit too hard on his shoulder and he shook his head. “No I think you should really get to bed. The office was really warm today so I was sweating and I’m just generally nasty.” Kyuhyun looked at Zhou Mi and felt himself get sick at the way Zhou Mi’s face had dropped. “Get into bed. I’ll be there after I shower.”
He winced as he heard Zhou Mi push his textbook across the table and scrape his chair back against the floor, grating and loud. He tried to block it out as he locked himself in the bathroom and stripped, looking in the mirror to make sure that guy hadn’t left a mark. Kyuhyun frowned, stretching the skin and then nodded. He had made the guy give him an extra fifty thousand because he was a regular and knew Kyuhyun was a no biting policy, but it didn’t hurt that there was no mark.
He turned the water on boiling, and even though he knew it would turn cool in a few moments but he needed to feel the burn against his skin to wash any traces of come away. He scrubbed hard with the soap, making sure to get every inch of skin so that he could feel clean when he climbed into bed with Zhou Mi. Kyuhyun let out a sigh and knew that he would have to do some serious cuddling to make up for how much of a dick he had been.
By the time he had finished and run the water to freezing he felt like he could face Zhou Mi. He took a deep breath, drying himself off before heading into bed. He didn’t bother putting on clothing, he only had dirty clothes, and he wrapped himself around Zhou Mi’s back, leg thrown over his hip. Zhou Mi stirred, turning his head.
“Are you going to be nice to me now?”
Kyuhyun let out a sigh and pressed a kiss to his neck. “It was a long day.” He closed his eyes and tried not to think about it all, and especially not about how one of them had made him come. He clung to Zhou Mi and kissed him, tried to make it soft, but he couldn’t help him.
“Hey, at least it’s a job.” Zhou Mi said lightly, turning around so he could stroke Kyuhyun’s cheek. “When I get a more permanent visa and can manage a job, I’ll be able to help.”
Kyuhyun shook his head, and then stopped, decided that he needed to nod instead. “I know. We’ll be fine.” He kissed Zhou Mi again, and hoped he had brushed his teeth well enough that Zhou Mi couldn’t taste the liquor and cigarette smoke in his mouth, because Kyuhyun always smelled it. He never knew when it went away.
“Of course we will,” Zhou Mi grinned, nuzzling his forehead into Kyuhyun’s adams’ apple. “We have love.” He said that all sing-song like, and it had Kyuhyun rolling his eyes as he hugged Zhou Mi to him.
“Yeah, we do.” He hugged Zhou Mi and made sure not to think of all the ways love didn’t make money to pay rent or support two people.
They had met four years ago, when Zhou Mi came over for a semester abroad at his school. Kyuhyun didn’t remember exactly how they had met, since he had been a business major, and Zhou Mi was studying Asian history, but they ran across each other, and as Zhou Mi said, it was love at first sight. Except of course Kyuhyun refused to let it be, and so he made sure to try to snark Zhou Mi away as much as he could. Zhou Mi kept coming back, running into him in the cafeteria, the library, and eventually finding him in the dorms.
Kyuhyun had thought about calling campus security at that point, but instead he had invited Zhou Mi into his room, made them both something to drink and talked. And by talked, he of course meant pushing Zhou Mi down and kissing him until neither of them could breathe, because maybe it had been love at first sight. Kyuhyun didn’t expect it to last. Zhou Mi was going back to his prestigious university in Shanghai and then going to Hong Kong because that’s where he wanted to go. Korea was just a pit stop along the way. It was either there or Japan, Zhou Mi would always say as they laid in bed on the weekends, and then he would add in a corny “it was fate that made me choose Korea.”
“And by fate you mean the fact that you can’t pronounce Japanese to save your life?” Kyuhyun would snark back.
Zhou Mi would laugh into his shoulder, and then bite down hard. “I love you Kui Xian.”
It had to be love, because love made you stupid, and made you believe in stupid things. Things like moving out of the comforts of dorms, and into an apartment.
“My grants should cover this, but I can’t work just yet.”
Kyuhyun had nodded as he circled a couple apartments. “I know all about your visa. You can only work a couple hours and really not even that because you need to keep your grades up. Don’t worry, I’m a business major, I have this.”
He had had a job too, something decently cushy as a number cruncher to a big company. He worked under the boss’s son, who may or may not deserved his job; his father didn’t seem to know most days. Donghae was nice though, and was willing to show him the ropes, and make exceptions. Exceptions like using that computer science minor to shave a couple of dollars from this account and put it in this account. And if that new account was Kyuhyun’s account, well Donghae just encouraged it because it wasn’t like he was attached to the company.
Kyuhyun hadn’t thought he was attached to the company. Until he got caught and lost his job, at least. He was lucky that Donghae had been working with him, because the CEO didn’t need his son getting dragged into the mess. So instead he was let go quietly, forced to return the money, and essentially blacklisted from the business world.
They hadn’t told him about that one. He had found that one out when he tried to apply to any other job. Kyuhyun was thankful for Donghae then. Zhou Mi had grants, but a bad semester had reduced them to nothing, and with Kyuhyun’s bank account empty they couldn't afford rent, even in the shitty apartment they had found, and thought was perfect when they first got it.
It was definitely love, Kyuhyun thought. And out of love he didn’t want to tell Zhou Mi what had happened. He didn’t need him worrying, or knowing, because he was aware he had fucked up, and even the hundred won bills that Donghae would slip into his jacket pocket when they met up while Kyuhyun pretended to be working weren’t helping. They kept rent paid but they didn't always pay the bills, or buy food, and it was all his fault.
He had been lamenting to Donghae about this as they drank, on Donghae’s tab of course. He had stopped feeling bad about it because he needed the drink and it wasn’t like he was going to land a job anytime soon.
“Why don’t you go out with me?”
Kyuhyun blinked, not fully understanding Donghae. “I’m not leaving Zhou Mi for you.”
Donghae laughed loud with his head thrown back. “Not like that you con artist. To work! You can run the circuits with me.”
“What?” Kyuhyun was sure even sober he would be confused.
“I moonlight. Tell your little Chinese lover that you got promoted but it’s going to require you to work nights, but you’ll be making more money.”
Kyuhyun knew it was a bad idea, even though he didn’t know the idea at the time, but drunk he couldn’t really argue. It sounded like a good deal, and if Donghae did it, it couldn’t be bad.
“Sure.”
Donghae lit up and punched Kyuhyun’s shoulder with a laugh. “That’s the spirit. Meet up with me at the metro at ten tonight and I’ll show you the ropes.”
Kyuhyun hated getting fucked. Especially by overweight men. He had tried to make himself handjob only at the beginning, but that had gone downhill quick. He had tried to not do any actual penetrative sex because that was too much for his conscience, but that’s the only way he could bring home 500,000 won a night, and sometimes he didn’t think that was enough. The thought of the 250,000 sitting in his pocket at this moment made it easier to take each thrust, and the clumsy hand that tried to get him off as his breathed in the smell of the brick wall.
He knew he wasn’t going to come though, and he closed his eyes, trying to pretend he was with someone more attractive. Someone like that bartender, or Donghae, or even Yesung. He never thought about Zhou Mi though, because he didn’t want to bring that image home with him. He grit his teeth as he felt the guy come and stay there, like they were cuddling or something. His time limit was two minutes, and he began to count, because he realized sometimes fat guys needed a moment to catch their moment.
His client pulled out, tossing the condom next to the wrapper and Kyuhyun had to wonder whose job it was to pick all of those up. They were never there more than one night. Maybe he could get that job. It would beat this, he thought, as the guy patted his ass and left him there. But he knew the money wouldn’t be enough.
He turned around, mad at himself for everything. Mostly the erection though, because he tried not to get them. He tried not to like this. He’d need an extra hot shower tonight because that had been the fourth client to fuck him. Kyuhyun sighed, wrapping his hand around his cock, letting his mind wander traitorously to Zhou Mi and home.
He really shouldn’t be doing this here. Anyone could walk up, and just help themselves to him. He didn’t care as he thought about Zhou Mi, and the sex they had had before he had left. It had been good, better than anything he could get here, he kept telling himself, because there was emotion, and whispering and teasing, and that stupid thing called love.
“How much does it cost to finish you off?”
Kyuhyun jerked, pushing himself away from the wall, and locking eyes with the bartender, Sungmin. Yeah that guy. Kyuhyun tried to recompose himself, tuck his hard cock back in his pants as he thought of a witty retort.
“Aren’t you supposed to be working?”
“I had Yesung watch the bar. Apparently he used to be a bartender. He can watch over.”
Kyuhyun laughed. “Don’t be hurt when you go back and find an empty cash box.”
Sungmin shook his head. “Already emptied it out.” He took a wad of cash. “So how much to finish you off?”
Kyuhyun remembered Donghae telling him about sometimes people would get attached. Kyuhyun had asked Donghae how he handled it, and Donghae had just laughed.
“Either I leave the place, or I make sure to charge a whole lot because they’ll pay it.”
Kyuhyun unzipped his pants. “One hundred and fifty.” Sungmin rolled his eyes but handed the money over. “What? I don’t know if you’re going to bite me or not.”
Sungmin said nothing as he dropped to his knees, and Kyuhyun gasped as his mouth wrapped around his cock. He was good, really good. Kyuhyun didn’t feel guilty about thrusting forward, fucking Sungmin’s mouth. He hadn’t come all night, and now that someone was actually trying to make him, Kyuhyun shut his eyes and gripped Sungmin’s hair and thrust because he needed this. Sungmin’s tongue wrapped around the head of his cock, licked the underside and Kyuhyun came, thrusting forward. He didn’t care if Sungmin swallowed or not. He was just glad to have come.
He pulled Sungmin up, eyes shut.
“Did I pass the whore’s test?”
Kyuhyun couldn’t stop himself from letting out a laugh as he shoved Sungmin away. “I give you a B. You’re too eager. You need to tease more.”
Sungmin smirked pushing him back into the wall and Kyuhyun frowned, wondering if he would need to scream. He hadn’t had to do that yet, because normally he could take care of himself, but Sungmin just laughed in his face. “Maybe tomorrow you can show me how do it properly.”
As Kyuhyun watched Sungmin walk away he called out, knowing he would be following after him in a moment. “I charge extra for giving lessons.”
Sungmin laughed loudly.
“So I see the bartender is taking a liking to you,” Donghae whispered against his ear as they rode the bus home. Yesung had gone the other way, headed to his own house with his fee in pocket. Donghae only rode home with him to make sure he didn’t get killed, and then he called his driver.
Kyuhyun shrugged, not trying to get Donghae to move from how close he was. Donghae was like this, clingy and touchy. He still didn’t know how Donghae got into this, sure didn’t need the money, but Kyuhyun didn’t have the patience to psycho analyze him. It would take too much out of him.
“Do we need to move spots?”
“No I like this. We are regulars after all.” Kyuhyun smirked as Donghae laughed, leaning against him in the empty bus car.
“We are.” Donghae was silent for a moment. “How many did you fuck tonight? I lost track because of mine.”
Kyuhyun shrugged, not knowing where Donghae was going with this. “I don’t know. I made almost 1,000,000 won before I had to pay Yesung.”
Donghae whistled and rested his head against Kyuhyun’s shoulder. “That’s a good night. You’ll be able to take your boyfriend out somewhere nice this weekend.”
“I’ll be able to only work five nights a week if I keep having nights like this.” Kyuhyun knew it was an empty threat. He wouldn’t risk it, not yet.
Donghae laughed, hand dropping from around his shoulders to his knee and Kyuhyun realized what he wanted. “And leave me all alone?” He turned to look at Kyuhyun. “Well I was just asking because it’s been awhile, the two of us, you know.”
Kyuhyun did know, and he was torn on whether that was a sad thing or not. With the clients he could justify it all away, but with Donghae. He enjoyed it with Donghae for it not to be cheating.
He leaned in, biting Donghae’s ear lobe. “Rain check?”
Donghae chuckled, turning his head and kissing Kyuhyun. It was the worst feeling in the world to return it, and get hard, and want. “You sure?” Donghae whispered as they broke apart and Kyuhyun felt himself bucking, and he really shouldn’t have been hard.
“Yeah.”
“I’ll pay you,” Donghae muttered, lips moving down Kyuhyun’s neck and sucking.
Kyuhyun straightened up. “You’ll have to if you leave a mark.” He pushed Donghae away. “This is my stop.”
Donghae let out a laugh. “Tomorrow then! I’ll miss you!” He sang the last sentence, waving happily and Kyuhyun couldn’t stop himself from waving back.
He needed to get home. Zhou Mi had an 8:30 class and Kyuhyun wanted to try and make him breakfast. He’d stop by the store and get something to make a Chinese dish. It would put a smile on Zhou Mi’s face, and make him even happier when he remembers that tonight is Kyuhyun’s night off.
