The next morning, Kibum was back to acting as if nothing had happened. Heechul grumbled to himself in frustration as he thought of the younger man's carefree attitude, saying that he couldn't remember anything that had happened the night before. Heechul knew for a fact that Kibum never forgot anything, even when he was totally wasted. But the thing that frustrated him more than Kibum pretending like nothing had happened, was that he seemed to actually care that Kibum wasn't saying anything.
What the hell was wrong with him? Why would be care that Kibum was playing dumb? It was probably to protect his own pride, if nothing else. Or, hell, it may have just been a pretty little lie, but for some reason that thought only made to increase Heechul's anger.
"I don't see why you like this game, anyways," Heechul grumbled as he sat on the couch behind Kibum, who was sitting on the floor propped up against the cushions. Kibum turned his head to look at Heechul for a split second curiously before turning back to the screen as he made his character beat the tar out of whatever that weird looking creature was; 'Anacondaur,' it said.
"That's because you don't play video games," Kibum said, turning around to grin at Heechul. The older man grumbled, rolling his eyes. Obviously, he didn't think it would matter if he played the damn thing or not. "Look, it's fun. You get to run around and beat stuff up but there's also a story line. Not to mention some of the characters are fucking hot."
"What the hell is so hot about a video game character when you could have the real thing?" Heechul grumbled, staring at the back of Kibum's head angrily. Of course Kibum noticed nothing and continued playing his little game, completely oblivious to the heated looks he was getting.
"But there's no one in real life like Lulu."
"Who?"
"Lulu," Kibum said, hitting the buttons on the keypad quickly. He'd obviously played this game far too many times. "Hang on, I'll show you."
"I still don't get what's so great about a video game character..."
"Look, man. It's more like...if she were real, she'd be my ideal type. Get it?" Kibum said, turning around to grin sheepishly at Heechul before pulling up a new character somehow. Heechul blinked, looking at the screen but not seeing any that looked like him.
"Which one is Lulu?"
"
That one." Kibum said, pointing to the character on the screen. Heechul blinked, looking at the thing, and trying to see any mild resemblance between the character and himself. He saw none.
"What the hell is so special about her?"
"Dude, you know I have a thing for big boobs." Kibum said, gaping at Heechul in surprise. "Besides, she's tough but at the same time nice. And she's completely unique."
Heechul blinked, looking at the bitch on the screen that was waving around some doll, flinging lighting bolts and fire left and right. It was ridiculous. Just last night, Kibum had said that he was in love with him and today he suddenly decides he has a big boob fetish for some goth chick who doesn't even exist? What the hell? Was Kibum just trying to cover up what he'd said, or had last night only been some weird hallucination? But...Kibum did seem pretty into the weird 3D chick...
So that meant Heechul had made it all up in his head? What the fuck? He wouldn't do that. There was no reason for him to make that kind of thing up....unless.....
Heechul froze, his eyes staring blankly at the TV screen as he felt his chest tighten in realization. His stomach flipped around and tied itself in knots as he stared straight ahead, not even bothering to notice what was in front of him. No...no way...he wasn't...he couldn't be....
Slowly, his gaze fell downwards until the only thing he could see was the back of Kibum's head. Heechul gulped, his breath catching in his throat as he reached out tentatively, his fingertips barely brushing against the black hair he used to think was boring but all of a sudden seemed to have a shine to it that was never there before.
"Hey, what are you--" Kibum started to yell, whipping around to look at Heechul, only to stop suddenly at the look on the other boys face. Why..."Why the hell are you crying!?"
Heechul blinked, gulping as he fell back against the couch, dragging his knees up to his chest and curling himself into a ball as tightly as humanly possible. The throbbing in his chest was so powerful, so much harsher than anything he'd ever experienced, and the saddest part was that he knew why. Somewhere deep inside of him, he'd been happy about Kibum's drunken confession last night. Because at some point over the last however many years, he'd fallen in love with the younger man. He didn't know when, or how, or why, but now that he knew it, it hurt too much to keep to himself. He blinked his tears away, looking up at Kibum pitifully for a long moment before anger started to take over.
"You're pathetic!" He screamed, grabbing the closest pillow and smacking Kibum upside the head with it, growling viciously. "You...you...you tell me you love me one second and then the next you're all hot for a fake chick with big boobs! Well I'm fucking sorry that I'm not a creepy goth, and I'm sorry I'm a guy and don't have huge tits, and I'm sorry I fucking love you and I'm fucking sorry you want to forget what you said and you're a fucking douchebag for saying that and then completely ignoring it and not even asking me how I felt and--"
Heechul froze suddenly, falling silent as he felt lips on his, completely shutting him up. He barely had time to react before he was pulled into a pair of arms, his entire body stiffening in the warm, sudden embrace.
"I'm sorry," Kibum whispered, his grip on Heechul tightening. "I thought it would make you uncomfortable if I brought it up, because I know how upset you get when the fans accuse you of liking guys. I just figured you wouldn't want to hear it from me."
"You're a fucking idiot," Heechul whimpered, his arms wrapping around Kibum shakily, still finding it hard to believe that this was actually happening. He felt anxious and excited and hopeful, and all those ooey-gooey feelings most people associate with love. It made him sick to think that he was actually now one of the masses, but at the same time, he completely didn't mind.
"Yeah? Well who is it that got jealous over a video game character?" Kibum smirked, causing Heechul to whack him upside the head yet again. Heechul grinned at the obviously annoyed expression on Kibum's face, biting his bottom lip as he let the happiness take over his thoughts.
"Shut up and kiss me already, idiot."
And so he did.
