Smitty's Barber Shop on Main Street in St. Charles. (With my dad.)
Mug & Brush in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. (With my three boys.)
I remember my cousin John threw a fit in a barber shop once when a Hispanic barber was about to cut his hair!
When you find a barber, then you become a loyal patron. There is the knowing look acknowledging that you've been there before and you're recoginized and accepted.

I concur that who cuts your hair can be very important and I now have someone I really like, which is why I am willing to have short hair. It is even better if the person who does a good job on your hair is also an interesting person to talk to. The person who cuts your hair can be like a therapist, someone you can tell things to that you might not tell someone else. Like a bartender, sort of. You can have some confidence that no one else will hear what you have said. I like Beth, the gal who cuts my hair.
