Hadley, Houston, St. Louis

The weekend before last, I was in Hadley for an interview for an upcoming Preview story. I met the director of an upcoming show at the Panera there on Route 9 -- she picked the meeting spot. It was a nice place for an interview, and L. liked it, because she had wanted to go to Target and Old Navy anyway. So we drove together and she went shopping

how our thoughts and feelings about a place or often tied up with people and experiences. As we find ourselves living in a more rural suburban area I long for the places that I have lived that were more urban and things were closer. I also marvel at the cultural differences. We are finding that we need to be much more patient as we drive around because people walk and bike on the roads, even though there are no shoulders and no sidewalks. It is a different way of thinking. We are the new people, we are the ones who need to adjust.
