Getting cats to use a cat flap and worrying!

I am trying to teach my new cat, Casper, to use the cat flap. So far when my husband and I half push him through it he is ok. But I am wondering how long it will take him to realise that he can just push it open. Also, I'm worried that when he does realise it, that he will run away. I've waited for a new cat for so long. Don't worry, I'm sure Casper isn't going to run away, and he definitely knows which bedroom is HIS (the one he lets you live in).I'm a bit surprised at how he's trying to stand up to Toby (much to Toby's amusement), but then Tigger used to do the same thing with Toby, I think he's a bit like an adult watching the kids do something funny but a bit silly, I can almost see him raise his eyebrows (assuming cats had eyebrows).

You've been very quiet the last day or two, I hope it isn't anything I've done to upset you? I hope you would tell me if it was, or if you don't want to talk about it, write me a note? I did warn you I tend to stress if I think I might have done something to upset someone, mainly because I'm not very good at reading the social clues that most people seem to understand. I am very happy having you and Kevin living here, and not just because you help me with the house, but you are good company, and if I'm feeling down (like from having that virus) and you smile, it makes me feel happier.
