Things are starting to come together

I made dinner last night. I can count on one hand the number of times I have actually cooked since I moved out here. But I do have one non-stick pan and I know a few recipes for one-pan meals. One of my favorites is a white fish smothered in onions and stewed tomatoes. When I went to the market on Sunday night, they had cod. That wasn't what I ( Read more... )

There's something about cooking a meal that speaks to the part of you that wants a place, a home. You eat out when you're on the go or not permanently settled. You cook when it starts to feel right. I always enjoy when the tea kettle starts whistling - that's home to me.

The air is dryer in Utah, but it's also even worse in the winter. It's cold dry air which is even harder on your skin. Make sure you lotion especially after every time you get out of the shower (it helps) and before you go to bed.

I love Evanescence too, but I still haven't gotten the new CD. I have a few songs, but you had mentioned that one of them reminded you of Anita, which one? You like moody rock music, huh? Because if you do, I think I'm going to have to mix you a cd and send it down your way...sharing music and making the 'perfect' playlist are favorite pasttimes of mine :)

Ooh, a personal playlist. Awesome. I think I do like moody rock. I don't buy a lot of music. When I do, it's usually because it called to me somehow. Like Anna Nalick's Breathe 2am. Or KT Tunstall's Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, a song I didn't like on first hearing but then I heard it at the right time and place. (It makes me think of werewolves, but I don't know why.)

Good Enough is the song that has an Anita feel to it.

You are right about using lotion. I hate the feel of lotion so it's a chore to put on but I don't think I have a choice!
