Porn or Nude Art?

In the interest of getting something up here besides me whining about how broke I am, I offer an intellectual challenge!

Under the cut is a drawing of two nekkid people in bed togeher.  They are both butt-naked.  They are rosy of cheek and  well satisfied.  So!  Is this porn?  Or simply nude art?  Whdo you think so?  What's the difference?

Um. . . . ( Read more... )

ah, the age old question that came up constantly during my Uni days

in my opinion, this is a non-sexual scene, ergo it is indeed art. (and it's better than anything Tracy Emin or wassisname who did 'lights going on and off' could come up with, btw. I can feel the love & caring in the scene, it makes me 'squee')

Were the characters engaged in acts of titillation or full intercourse/other of that natures, that would be pornography.

And this really is a lovely picture. Good job ^^

Why thank you ^^

Just to stir up the pot, what if you find intimacy and romance titillating? The romance-novel industry could attest to the fact that porn doesn't have to be pictures.

no problem.

and I think there's a difference between the 'romance scenes' that the romance-novel industry trades off (my late-grandmother used to collect Mills & Boon books, she had hundreds of the things!) and porn.

Mostly that romance novels are supposed to make you squee from the cutesy scenes leading up to the intimacy and pornographic stories are supposed to turn you on, plain and simple, with little or no lead up/character development.

excuse me if I'm rambling, I've been out in the heat for too long

I think this picture in the context it is in, is not porno. It is just a couple laying together and enjoying each other's company. Nothing more... nothing less.

Hmmm, this strikes me as nude art. I guess it's the fact that it doesn't really inspire one to go and get themselves off, it's more of a sweet snuggly feeling that makes you want to go huggle your boyfriend/girlfriend. :D I guess it's really the feeling the piece invokes that discerns whether it's porn or nude art.
