I read the story yesterday... she's 15 I believe. There have been some arrests. Crude people... we'll see if crude justice follows.

Jesus, that is horrifying!

And while I DO think she probably made a bad decision to follow the classmate, I wouldn't go so far as to say that what happened was her fault. Quite the opposite, in fact, and I hope every single person who stood by and let it happen (in addition to anyone who participated) is prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law.

:/

Fucking animals!

What's sad is they aren't animals. I have now heard more than one story about a woman who was raped while others either watched or knew and did nothing. I've heard more than one guy mention "running a train" on a girl as a common occurrence. I would love to say shit like this is unusual but unfortunately our society still produces men and boys who think this shit is ok.

Too true.

A question about your last sentence, though. Were there no girls just standing around watching, either? I was led to believe the spectators were a mixed group, but perhaps I was wrong?

I am more talking about the rapists and assailants who beat her. Bystander effect is something altogether different.

That is so beyond fucked up!

"All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."

I cant believe 20 people could just stand there and do nothing. Some even took pictures!

I can't even believe something like this could happen. So infuriating!

I've heard more than one story of a woman being raped while others watched or knew and did nothing. I am sad to say that it happens way more than it should.

I have as well, but not to this extent -- at least with kids. This incident is like the horror rape stories from Vietnam.
