Just a drive-by comment to say that (to the surprise of no one) I went back and actually translated that text that Dr. Jackson is so irately re-translating in that one scene, and (again to the surprise of no one) he's actually the one that has the bad translation. The text as written prior to Jackson's interference is very literally what the hieroglyphics say. One caveat though, and that's that the hieroglyphics are written in the wtf-iest non-standard way possible. And considering that hieroglyphics are on their own unstandardized enough that it wasn't until trying to translate that snippet that I fully appreciated how standardized they are, that's really saying something.
Not that this should negate your use of the icon to express your fully justified linguist rage. Carry on!
