In which Saberivojo is a prude and a snob

Now, disregarding the fact that this is all lower case letters, which is something that makes me cringe and the fact that this person has no clue how to use punctuation marks, I still just can’t deal with this.

I get it guys, it’s FB - not everyone cares or even believes in punctuation or capitalization.  It is somewhat generational I’m sure ( Read more... )

I just can't help it. I think I need to be medicated sometimes. *deep breath*

I feel your pain. I'm especially thrown when people don't use punctuation. I have to re-read 'one' sentence three times just to figure out that it's actually four sentences with several subordinate clauses just because people are to lazy to put in all these bothersome points and stroke thingies that are obviously not important. -.- And then I hate myself for being a grammar snob.
Also, that girl totally thinks Jason Mann is going to be crawling on his knees, begging her for her wonderful lyrics and who cares if she can't really spell, she has this amazing gift where she can string words together into deep, meaningful, living and breathing beings of light!

Have fun writing you paper :)

Oohhh. Subordinate clauses. *pets your grammar snobby self*

I just don't even read fic anymore where people obviously don't care enough to properly capitalize or punctuate. It doesn't have to be real fancy punctuation, periods make me very happy.

There is no fun writing this paper but hopefully I will start each sentence with a capital letter.

*grins*

tifaching is a grammar and spelling snob too. And I refuse to feel bad about it! tifaching April 10 2011, 19:37:37 UTC
Don't hate yourself for being a grammar snob. It is not all right to write however the heck you want. Actually, it is all right, hell express yourself however you want, as long as you don't expect me to actually read it.

"she has this amazing gift where she can string words together into deep, meaningful, living and breathing beings of light!" LOL, I've seen a few people defend their non-punctuated, misspelled, wrong word for the context writing just this way!

I HATE when people write like that. I understand a misspelling or two. Even not knowing when to use a comma. But how can you look at something like that and think, "Oh, that's perfect! Send!"? So annoying!

I agree. I'm the first to say I make a lot of errors. But please, try to put your best efforts out into cyberland. Other people do read your words and you can either look like you know what you are doing or you can look like an idjit.

The problem, as I see it, is that people can now post FB statuses and comments from their "Smart" phone -- which, if you ask me, isn't really all that smart if it doesn't allow you to use appropriate punctuation and grammar, but I digress.

If they're posting such a comment from their phone, then they seem to intersperse "text-speak" with lazy thumbs and it all comes out in an odd jumble of thought.

I am grateful for convenience when I need to get a message to someone (the hubs, for instance) quickly, but it makes me crazy when you have someone reaching out for what is, essentially, a fly-by-night job interview with less professionalism than a kindergartener.

If you want to be taken seriously, take yourself seriously, Lyricist Lady.

*sighs* Srsly. ;)

PS
Happy paper-writing.

I realize I'm grumpy and I realize that not everyone has my issues with this. I also know that I have, in the past, typed an email or a message in less than perfect English. But if you are going to post on a musician's page that you want him to encourage your songwriting talents, don't you think a little more forethought would be advantageous?

Being a fan of spelling, punctuation and good writing in general, makes you very unpopular some places ( ... )

Each paragraph (and yes, that was the only thing this author did right) was a group of what should have been sentences, but had no capital letters at the beginning, or punctuation at the end.

Went to Catholic School. Sister Mary Margaret would have taken a two by four to me.

I'm just sayin'.
