Forgive me if this rambles, and also some of you may have seen an almost identical post on Tumblr, but I wanted to post it here, too, where a conversation could be comfortably had, if anyone is so inclined

Who says its not original? It's your thoughts and ideas sparked off some characters that weren't all that fleshed out in the canon universe. They were more than names, yes, but giving them this huge backstory has made them whole, breathing characters.
I'm about halfway through, I got up to the point where they are ready to enter the arena and then life just came up and said nope, you will not be reading things thank you very much. :P
It's so much easier to pour words onto the page when you are so in love with the characters that you NEED to find their endgame. Sometimes when I'm writing it's almost a physical compulsion to get them there.

Poor Annie was barely more than an idea, and so much of fandom seems to have taken Katniss as the authority on her that I sometimes feel like she IS a completely original character. :P

Yep. Sometimes I just get so twitchy when I can't write that it makes me crazy. (Of course it also usually happens that when I finally get a chance to write, I'm still so jittery that I frak around on the internet until I have no more time to write. Stupid brain.)
If you ever do get the chance and inclination to finish reading it, I'd love to know what you think of it. :)

I keep a notebook with me everywhere, when I was at work, school, etc and any time there was a lull, I was pouring words onto the pages. Ideas, dialogue, etc, it helped focus me when I was finally in a place to write because I had the notes from when the stuff was pouring out of my brain. :)
I started doing that, too, about six months ago. Several of the later scenes of TW were written long-hand. My husband even bought me a new notebook with colorful dragonflies on it for Valentine's day when he saw that the one I'd been carrying was full. Yesterday, during the sermon at church, I jotted down several things for my exchange fic. Oops.
Yes, ma'am. Next up after my exchange fic is the sequel to Victorious and then Diving Under. Unless, of course, the scenes from DU get to be too much, in which case deathmallow will just have to wait for Rebellious. ;)
