What do Finnick and Annie fight about the most?
What did Annie teach Finnick how to do?
What does Finnick think is Annie's best skill or trait?

Annie thinks Finnick is overprotective, so they fight about that sometimes. He worries about her too much and when they're both having a bad day with their issues showing, he hovers too much and she feels smothered and they fight about that.

Annie taught Finnick patience. Some of it was inadvertent, right after her Games, when he had to go slowly with her or risk pushing her further into herself, further into hiding. But some of it he learned just from watching her, the way she'll rescue an injured bird and nurse it back to health, things like that.

Finnick thinks Annie's best skill or trait is the way she looks at things from all sides before she decides what she thinks about it. He calls it "seeing things other people miss," but she just calls it paying attention.

It's bad enough that fans marginalize her in fic and make her some childlike girl who Finnick is with out of some misguided obligation, because he used to love her before the Games broke her. The Finnick Odair I met in the books? There's way more to him than that. There's way more to Annie than that.

While I don't feel strongly on this topic, speaking as someone who hasn't got a romantic bone in her body, Annie seemed a tad one note in the books as Finnick's lovely yet childlike and broken lover. I agree btw that I don't see them as childhood friends etc.

If there's ever a chance for prequels or whatever, I'd love to see Finnick's games and his aftermath as the Capitol Whore Of Panem... but I'll be honest, Annie seemed like a tailor made excuse for there to not be yet another man in Katniss's harem of potential lovers.

Althouh I will admit, a prequel of Annie's games would also be interesting.

You're right, in the books Annie is more of an idea than a character. But that's because, as is a common "complaint," all we get is Katniss' view of her and Katniss doesn't really care, so she never bothers to learn more.

And Katniss was definetely a somewhat self involved bitch/idiot in the second and third books - in my opinion of course.

Thats not necessarily a bad thing, her being self involved, but it does lead to a lot of convienent surprises like Katniss being totally and utterly clueless about the rescue and yes, missing Finnick's rather sensitive side.

Do you think Annie was one of those tributes who went into a killing frenzy? I suspect a dark reason for her utter breakdown.

Query: in your head canon, how did Finnick and Annie first meet? Why did Finnick fall in love with Annie and vice versa? What does Finnick dislike most about Annie and vice versa? Finally, how did Annie first find out about Finnick's role as the Capitol Whore? (which assumes she "found out", as opposed to being pimped out herself and realizing they did this to all the victors)

Finnick and Annie first met at her reaping, but there wasn't much to it. The first time they really spoke to each other was the morning after that and I actually wrote that scene in Treading Water. I could post it for you, if you want to read it without slogging through 120,000 words to get to it. :P

The other two questions I'm going to think about overnight and get back to you tomorrow, because I just realized it's after midnight here and I have to be up by 6. :(

ETA: Ha! I wrote the scene where Finnick tells Annie about Snow selling him, too, but you'd only have to make it through about 60,000 words to get to that scene. :P

I'd love to know what you think of it, but I was going to just offer to snip out the pertinent parts for you... :)

I was going to ask you how they met, but you've already answered it. I haven't read the third book, but I find your responses interesting.

What was their first date like, if they ever went on a proper one.

Their first date is something I'm going to be writing as a flashback scene in TW. :)

For their first official date, Annie had Finnick over to her house for dinner. She wanted to cook for him. But since he had finally decided to stop fighting his feelings for her, and she never did try to fight hers for him (other than trying to hide them from him because she thought he wasn't interested), dinner was kind of forgotten. Oh, she started dinner, but watching her got to be too much for him and he turned the stove off so it wouldn't burn. They... didn't get back to it until much later in the evening, and ended up just making a couple of sandwiches. He didn't go home until around 10:00 the next morning. ;)
