the last Sweet Charity auction...

All good things must come to an end, and in keeping with that, sign ups are open through tomorrow (8PM GMT) for the last Sweet Charity auction, benefitting RAINN. As it began, so it ends.

Let's make this an auction for the history books, people.

Why is this the last Sweet Charity Auction?

It's something halcyon_shift started in honor of a friend, but it grew and grew and now there are 290 of us signed up to sell in this last auction. In her own words, she's ending it because:

I've seen various reasons touted, so to clear those up, it's not because:

a) we got a cease and desist
b) I no longer want to run something for my friend
c) we got bought out by microsoft
d) I don't love fandom anymore

The actual answer is just that it's not in my ability to manage SC the way it needs to be managed anymore and I (and I suspect others) would much rather see it end well than whimper and die.

While SC is going, the script lives on! So you may well see other auctions popping up, who knows?

SC is being mothballed, not deleted, so if something dire happens (gods of your choice forbid) it can have a comeback special if necessary.

They're ending it? :( I suppose it is a lot of work for the organizers and with this economy...

Given that this new auction has 290 of us signed up to sell stuff, yeah, way too much for halcyon_shift to handle, even if someone else were to take over (she owns and maintains and programs the website).
