Here's my drabble for simplystars's Farscape Holiday drabble-a-thon or whatever it is she called it. This is for you, elliejane! I hope you like it and I'm so sorry it's late. *glares at still mostly dead laptop*

This is great, I love Rygel at times, and hate him at others. But this, I can totally believe - you're right, he's actually a complex character, despite his "harumphing" and such. A little peak at Rygel himself, not prisoner, or dominar, but just trying to get along, preserve a little tradition and belief. A softer side to him.

PS: I'm sure in canon we never discovered what a drannit was, but is there a fanon explanation?

Rygel is just so much more than he appears to be and I love the little frog even when I hate him. But alas, I don't what a drannit is in fandom, either. If you ever find an explanation, please swing by and let me know. ;)

Rygel with dignity. Rygel with ritual and history, and a past that must have been so very different from the present he lives on Moya. We don't often think about Ryg out of the context of being the butt of jokes and the sneaky sneakaround, but this does and it shows a glimpse of what he might have had, might have been.

I wonder if Rygel keeps his robes and his authority all bundled up around him, to keep some of his old life with him. Much as I imagine John does with his pop culture and his Farscape 1 and his hankering for home (and, as I imagined, his Christmas).

Rygel is a wonderfully complex character and I'm glad you feel that I've captured that here in so few words. Hee. Drabbles are both the easiest and the hardest things to write EVAR! ;)

Oh, I like this. I like the idea that everyone has their own religious celebrations. And I like the idea that Rygel would celebrate it, even though most of the time I think he's an ass.

Hee! Rygel IS an ass, most of the time. Except when he's not. But that's part of his charm. :D
