Day of Decision Events

May 26, 2009 13:40

I'm sure you've all heard by now that the Calif. Supreme Court voted to uphold Prop 8. I, as I know many of you guys are, am completely and utterly mortified.

Found this through stinglikeabee's LJ, and since I can't really get out to participate in anything personally, I'm re-posting the links in the hopes that maybe some of you all can. Day of Decision has ( Read more... )

I'm not really surprised but I am angry and disappointed. Sigh. I don't like being ashamed of my state like this ...

I don't even live on the same coast, and I'm ashamed. :( This kind of crap just makes us *all* look bad.

F*ck.

No, this is the first time I heard it- just got back from school around 3:00. They seriously- sh*t. Isn't that just wonderful?

I'd go to one of the events, except I'm going to be doing homework pretty much all night. Still- best wishes to those who go, and a giant f*ck you to everyone who supported Prop 8.

*is really pissed off*

(Couldn't remember if you minded swearing in the comments, so I self-censored.)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, then. :(

And no, I don't care about cursing in the comments. Go nuts!

Wow, so they actually went with if you married right away before they yanked the rights, you're good, but from now on, you can't. Like the Feds forcing gay couples to be unrecognized across the country and only in the handful of states that allow gay marriage.

The convolutions that prejudice will go through always amazes me. They twist themselves into pretzels!

I'm actually kind of relieved that they decided to let previous gay marriages stand. It's *something*, at least. Problem is getting full rights restored again, and yes, sorting out this insanity across the country. Craziness. :/

*hugs*

Agreed on all counts.

Well, gay marriage is becoming more and more common around the country, and hopefully in 2010 this horrible proposition will be overturned. As more and more young people get involved in politics, the odds are in the good guys' favor. :)

I was so disappointed when I heard the decision. I hated that my state passed this and totally shocked back then because I thought we were more progressive than that. Guess I was wrong. I hate to say I'm not surprised at the court's decision because I had my doubts it would get overturned this time but it's still SO heartbreaking. :(

Heh. I live in a state that outright *banned* gay marriage. :/ But still, yeah, I really thought California was better than that. :(

*hugs*
