Not having any Russian I don't know how true to the original these are, but they read extremely well.

Translations can so often be a pale shadow but these work.

Clearly the point of this award is to encourage a standard of excellence in translation, something I heartily approve of. I'm happy you enjoyed them.

When you FINALLY come up here, I'll take you down the Courland Spit (from In Memory of East Prussia) The Lithuanian section is one of my favourite Baltic places - outside Saaremaa, of course.

Himself will be in Latvia at some point early this year (Latvian EU presidency stuff) so he's going to suss things out a bit for a trip!
