I'll give this a try, or one of the earlier ones, if my library has it. I highly recommend the Sarah Tolerance Regency mysteries by Madeleine Robins.

Good Luck. You might not find it for awhile as its pub. date is early November.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll have a look out for Madeline Robins.

I tend to prefer intelligent silver fork novels (life is full enough of grit and grue) but it really sounds like she did her homework. I'll have to remember that title to pass on to friends who like this sub genre.

Thank you for reading and passing on recommendations.

Have you read Amanda Foreman's quite engrossing biography, Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire? A rather egregious movie based on the book was made about 2008 starring the almost anorexic Keira Knightly. The real duchess was, to all accounts stunningly corpulent, as was the fashion of the time.

The movie was attempting to trash-in on Georgina's connection to Diana, but the original book was very good.

Indeed, I read the book when it first came out, and ignored the movie. (I can't stand Keira Knightley, who seems to have only two expressions and those distorted by all that botox in her lips.)

Thanks for the review. Haven't read a good Regency mystery in a while!

As I said, this was my first. I was very satisfied. As an ex-Londoner it was wonderful to re-imagine these same streets that I once walked.
